New member, and new civic owner with questions
Hey, I just got a 2001 Civic (5 door HB) and the car seems pretty good.. but I noticed riding last night a couple of issues that I didn't see when I bought the car. Mainly the backlighting on the speed and RPM gauge aren't working (temp and gas have backlight though) and the fuel gauge isn't working at all (but the reserve light works). I looked at the fuse box and fond nothing wrong, I switched out the one saying gauges to to check and that had nothing to do with it. I also searched around here and I've seen the thread with the dimmer and radio problem... but my car has no dimmer and the radio is still factory. What should I check next? THe fuel gauge I'm guessing is completly unrelated.. what should I to to fix a stuck fuel gauge (it's stuck in half tank)
BTW, my name is Tiago and I'm from Portugal, great forum you guys have here, a ton of info.

Welcome to the site man!
I'm guessing a few bulbs are out on your car's cluster, as they have been burning for nearly 10 years likely without replacement. Pull the cluster and unscrew the blubs to see if the filament has come loose or they just burnt out.
As far as the fuel gauge... I dont see why it would be stuck, unless there is something that doesnt let it rotate... when your tank is empty, does the gauge move down below half a tank, or when full does it rise above half a tank? There could be something that is physically making the needle unable to move, or the needle was pulled off and put on wrong.. while you have the cluster out for the bulbs, I pull the front lens off the cluster and flick the needle with my finger. Hopefully you can determine something from it.

You should be able to pull you insturment cluster out of the dash i think there is only a couple of screws in it. When you get it out its all electronic but you can replace the bad bulbs. I think also your dimmer switch is your mileage reset ****, you have to turn it to adjust the dimmer. As far as you fuel gauge half way is better than empty. HA HA.,

Thanks guys for the help. I dissembled the cluster this morning, changed out the blown bulbs and then I worked on the fuel needle, the thing was stuck
I just wobbled it a bit and it came loose. Turned the key and everything is working now.
