Help`

I am new here and I have used th search function but am still having trouble. I have an 02 civic. I bought it used and the kid before had a systm in in with spliced wiring on the head unit. I had a sony gt310 in it and took it out for a bit and now am reinstalling the 310 myself. The issue i have is that I have researched the wiring for both and have them mated as i think correctly, but the gt310 is not working and i have 2 honda wires left over. There is a red one with an additional red one spliced into it and the red/black(which i think is an illumination wire). If i put either one to a powered wire wire (red/white or yellow/red) it turns the iluumination lights on in the dash. As a side note if i turn the car off, the pdl's no longer work. Please help???

Re: Help`

Factory RED is from the dimmer circuit output. You should not be using this wire and any wires connected to it should be removed.

Factory RED/BLK is voltage switched from the taillight relay, it will have voltage present when the parking or headlights are on.

The RED/BLK would go to the "illumination" lead of the headunit.

I will post up the facory colors for constant & switched voltage.

Re: Help`

I can't help you on the Sony harness colors, but neither of the blue wires you mentioned should be needed.

You will need to identify which Sony leads are for constant & ACC power.

Here are the 2 factory colors:

WHT/RED = Constant Power

YEL/RED = Switched Power

Re: Help`

I appreciate the help. I have those connected they are for the yellow and red leads on the sony respectively. I will cap off the red and red/black ones from the factory set. Also the two blue ones from the sony harness. I still think i am missing something though since i can t get anything to work.

Re: Help`

Sounds like you are missing voltage to either the switched or constant power leads.

Check their respective inline fuse holders, if o.k. check for voltage coming from the factory source wires.
