weird speaker problem

so today i turned on my system and the left front speaker had that blown rattle sound to it but after a couple minutes it went away so i was happy then 5 minutes later my right site started to do it i was like wtf!!! the next day i turned it on and it was gone so i turned the bass up and it came back on the right side wtf its been very cold lately could it have gotten wet they are very expensive mb quart components that should be virtually indestructible also i was going to use foam insulated pods but opted not to i really don't feel like buying a new set and taking the door paneling of in the freezing cold i dont have a garage this is very frustrating.

Re: weird speaker problem

^how is that going to help?

you might have some corrosion on the speaker wire terminals. Check your speakers and crossover wiring.

Re: weird speaker problem

yeah it gets wet in there and almost always the connections mess up. what i did recently was sand the speaker terminals so they are shiny again, then wrap the wire directly around the terminal and seal it up with a piece of butyl tape-3M windoweld ribbon sealer-around each one (do not let them touch, the butyl is a low conductor of electricity so wrap some electrical tape around each one after you seal it).

Re: weird speaker problem

That or one of your wire may have broken for the coil making a loose or crappy connection.

Re: weird speaker problem

my grounds are fine i was putting the levels towards the left but it was annoying the hell out of me so i just disconnected the woofer on my cross over for the time being its to cold out to start ripping the door panel of its sounds ok i mite just wait till summer because if i have to replace it i have to do both sides then i can add some jute padding like gearbox did.
