Headlight problem

This morning I saw that one of my headlights doesn't work ... When I turn the light switch on ... only one of them lights up, but when i switch them to high beam, both work perfectly fine.

Do i have to replace the bulb ?

Re: Headlight problem

Your low and high beam use different bulbs. Yes you have to replace a bulb, just make sure its the low beam bulb.

Re: Headlight problem

if you have 01-03, it uses the same h4 bulb, two different filaments inside. 04-05 uses different bulbs.

Re: Headlight problem

then yes, you have 2 filaments inside one bulb. the high beam may work but the low beam can be blown. change the bulb.

Re: Headlight problem

Change both bulbs, not one bulb. And go OEM, worth every penny. A friend of mine who used to have a 05 Subaru legacy bought sylvania silverstars 3 times in a row, and each time they went out within 2 months.

Re: Headlight problem

yeah stick with clear bulbs. 01-03 uses H4 size. i have the philips ecovision, they are clear and use 1 amp less than oem bulb, are 10% brighter, and last 1,000 hrs (2x more than oem).

Silverstars absolutely SUCK!!!!!!! listen to gear on halogens. since he can't make up his mind on HID's, he's definitely the expert on halogens.

Re: Headlight problem

Always replace bulbs as a set, you don't want two different bulbs, and you don't want to have to replace one a little down the road because you only replaced the burnt out one.

Re: Headlight problem

I like my Sylvania's. I keep my headlights on all the time even during the day and have had no issues for six months.

Re: Headlight problem

well prolly the same brightness. silverstars use an overdriven filament otherwise the blue coating would rob too much light and put the output lumens below the legal minimum. maybe thats why their average lifespan is 50 hrs.

Got them changed, they were like $14 at walmart ...
Now my question ... what bulb would be the brightest and non-yellow looking.

Re: Headlight problem

yeah the philips xp is a clear bulb but is currently the brightest and much whiter than stock. they are almost $40 from www.powerbulbs.com but last as long as a regular bulb.
