I need to fix my gas light
Alright guys I've posted about this before but to no avail was I able to figure out how to fix my gas guage. I have done the cluster swap and everything works just fine except for the gas light. I have had Honder personally help me figure it out but we couldnt get much. I know that the cluster is wired up correctly because I had followed the charts gearbox showed me. Honder also checked my wiring job and it was all good. I also swapped out Honder's cluster with mine and my gas light worked in his car. So something has to be wrong. I was told to check into the fuel pump but I don't know anything about fuel pumps or how they work or if it needs to be replaced or what.
Re: I need to fix my gas light
The gas light is controlled by the cluster itself, there is nothing coming from the ECU to tell it its low on fuel. Once your gas needle gets so low the cluster just turns it on so If its not going off then you have a bad cluster.

Re: I need to fix my gas light
Have you tried the cluster test to see if the fuel low indicator will light ??
"The fuel gauge and the low fuel indicator are controlled by the CPU built-in the gauge assembly. The CPU receives fuel level information from the fuel gauge sending unit.
The fuel gauge sending unit resistance varies from 11-13 Ohms at full to about 130-132 Ohms at empty. The fuel level signals current changes with the varying resistance, which enables the CPU to determine the level of the fuel. When the CPU determines the level of the fuel is low, it turns the low fuel indicator on."
One side of the indicator is supplied voltage, and is illuminated through the CPU circuit providing ground.

It's not a bad cluster I've switched it out with Honder's and the guage worked just fine in his car.. The low gas light is always on it's just that the guage isnt reading how much fuel I have left so its always on empty.

Re: I need to fix my gas light
So the gas gauge stays at empty also ??
The info I have from the factory manual is this:
All years use YELLOW/BLACK as the lead from sending unit.
Location of sending unit lead:
01-02 & 03-04 GX = Plug A3
03-04 DX = Plug A3
03-04 HX LX EX = Plug B13
Compare these to your wiring.

Yes the gas empty light is always on and the gauge reads empty. I've got an 05 dx so I'll check and see what wiring I have compared towards what you showed me. I'll let you know this weekend if it works out
