speaker wiring
speaker wiring
Im getting a new amp and new speakers soon and i was wondering what the best way to wire my speakers to it would be. i know how to run the wire, but i was looking on the directions on my head unit for hooking the amp up to that and on the picture of the back of the head unit, it had the front two speakers going to the head unit for power and the back two to the amp. shouldnt i just put all four to the amp.
Also, im pretty sure im getting the infinity reference speakers. do you know if they are good or would you recommend something else?

Re: speaker wiring
I run my four speakers off of a 2-ch 760W Pioneer amp mounted under the driver seat.
I really wasn't in the mood to run wires from the amp to the speakers, the stock wiring is good enough for most configurations, so instead I just ran my speaker wire back up to the dash and wired it into the speaker wire leads on the wiring harness for the deck.
The speaker wires coming from the deck are just taped over and are disconnected.
This should work just fine, so long as you run the new speaker wire away from any power wire in your car (especially the amp's power wire).
The only downside to running a single amp to power all four speakers is that you lose your front/back separation. Even with a four channel amp, unless it has two sets of RCA inputs (front and rear) your deck will only be able to fade left and right, not front and back.
