New Excelon HU

What do yall think about the New excelon HU's? I heard that they are very pricey. I mean are they like any different than the last year models beside the fact that the appereance is altered.
Thanks
Seth

Hi Seth..not much different except for appearance and displays..internals are pretty much the same with some minor improvements in the CD tracking system(less chance of skipping)

the new models are so expensive because they were just released last month. I bought last years top of the line model (KDC-X917) and let me tell you, it is full of features. I have been reading the manual because I can't install it and play with it until tomorrow (Saturday). Can't go wrong with eXcelon.

Yah I hear yah UncleB. I will never have anything but excelon, I feel that Kenwoods products are top of the line and have great features and have a good life span. I used to have pioneer and sony and the quality just doesnt compare as to kenwoods products. I love my kenwood products!

Phatster: I agree with you on the Sony part, but Pioneer makes some really decent stuff. Nothing to write home about, but it is solid and it lasts a long time. No complaints with them. I have never used Kenwood stuff before so this will be a new chapter in my book. woot!

Kenwood Excelon is some pretty good equipment.. For Pioneers did you have a low end model? Pioneer and Kenwood Excelon are pretty much on par in quality, features, pricing.... Regular Kenwood gear is right along side with Sony and Blaupunkt.. it's functional but nothing particularly grwat or special..prvided it's working ..

For top of the line brands for HU's
Sony CDX C-90 (yeah sony rest of their stuff isn't too good tho)
Nakamichi(all models)
Eclipse (all 5volt and up models with 2 buttons)
Denon
MaCintosh
Alpine F1's
Pioneer P-1's and P9's
and Clarion 925's and CD-10..

List is in no particular order but there are the top HU's used for SQ competitions.. There are very few if any that Use kenwood hu's for SQ competing because of the run of the mill quality of their D/A COnverters and outputs.

Cheers
