I am looking to swap out my instrument cluster for one with a tact. I have all the technicle manuels for the 05 civic but little tools to work with. I did find a 4dr unit that is an EX 2001 but I have a 2rd civic. What else do I need to make this a smooth operation Ie what it would better if i had (blank) what tools do i need? what is a good price for gauge cluster? Do I need a new ecu to make it all work?

thanks

make sure you get the same cluster as what you have for coupe/sedan because the lights at night are different (red/orange for coupe, and yellow/green for sedan). all you need is a short philips screwdriver. lower the steering wheel tilt, remove two philips screws from the top of the black gauge bezel, then stick your fingers behind it at the bottom and pull towards you as hard as you can. its held by glue and clips but will pull off. then there are three more screws holding the cluster in, two on the sides and one on top. once those are out, unplug the green and blue plugs, then install the new cluster. mileage changes to whats on the new cluster.

Gearbox

Thanks for the info first. Second I saw the latest post on changin the colors on the Instrument cluster of your 02 civic. My question is that Is it possible to change the green lights to red lights on the sudan's cluster. Second question what wires do I need to move to make it happen?

the wires that go to the green and blue connectors. you need to remove the pins and change around the order according to the wire diagrams. and yes its possible to change colors of the older clusters too, if you dismantle the cluster and strip the greenish paint off the back, you can put red taillight film and it will change the color. its very involved process tho. ive done it once and it worked out well.

Re: 2005 civic instrument cluster w/mt

only place ive found is an online shop that has the expensive equipment. costs about $150 to send it to them and advance the mileage. i think diemaster on the forums has found a way to advance it manually so maybe ask him if he can do it for you.

Thanks Gearbox for the info I also look in to turning the cluster into the dealership and they said that can do it for the same price. If anybody body has the same situation as me can you pass the info on to them that mileage can be change as well as everything else. You have been the big help in this project. My civic(Dagger) thanks you too.

Re: 2005 civic instrument cluster w/mt

Hey guys. Ive had a problem with my instrument cluster for about a month now, finally getting it fixed. I decided to just get a different one. I have an '05 DX coupe, manual transmission, and the current cluster has no tachometer, so im trying to find one with a tach. Will a cluster from an '04 manual, sedan plug and play without having to do anything extra to it?
