I have my alpine deck hooked up, while I was installing it i found there are no dimmer wires, and some other minor things I don't care about. Either way the deck is working just fine except when I turn my headlights on the deck dims significantly. Is there any way I can stop this from happening?

It's not a huge problem , but when it's dark enough that I have to turn my headlights on, but still light enough that the sky is still lit, it makes it difficult to see my display.

Does anyone have a clue if there is a fix to this? Or is it just tough luck?

im guessing its tough luck...

the load on the battery from running all the lights is whats doing it... Are there any settings for dimming on the Alpine deck?

well it really sounds like you hooked up the dimmer wire. i ended up disconnecting mine cause i wanted it bright all the time. just figure out which one is for the dimmer (or illumination) and cut it.

What wire are you supposed to splice the dimmer wire into?

i dont think the dimmer wire is used on our cars. its the illumination wire that controls how the deck dims when dash lights come on. and to figure how to connect it, you need your radio install diagram and the stock harness connector diagram to match them up.

yeah illumination wire. my kenwood head unit dims as well when the parking lights switch over to on, i just turned this off in the Menu. If you have the owners manual check it out

ROFL. Ok I'm no idiot when it comes to the wiring of a system, that's why this had me stumped. This damn deck has an option to dim when i turn on my headlights, I guess since it's so damn bright at night. I laughed my *** off at myself when i figured that out. It's just this new model civic i had has different wiring then my old one, it doesn't have 2 that my old 99 hatch did.

Silly me.
