I was checking out these at the local Best Buy
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1199495218609
And I was wondering how much work it would take to hook these up...is it just a matter of un hooking my old ones...and rewiring my new ones? The car stereo is stock with what came from the car.

u gotta remove the seats, rear panel and the panels along the back as well. i would also be very careful as you might get some rattling.
Here;s a DIY

took me hella long the first time but only took me about an hour the second time

I'm planning to install 6x9's as well in the rear and going with westcali's be prepared to do some drilling.
I suppose after removing everything, place the 6x9 speaker one at a time and mark where the mounting screws are located and drill a hole on these spots. These holes will be the speaker mounting places depending on what type of screws, or nuts and bolts planning to use.
My concern on this is a little rattling noise so may wanna use some type of rubber surrounding the speaker or use some light clear silicone. This is just me thinking out of the box to do something about the possible rattling.
Anyway, I hope this works as I'm tempted to do it next weekend.
Good Luck to us all.

i installed alpine spr-69c in the back and it wasnt that hard. i think they r similar sized speakers. i didnt have to drill anything.. the speakers fit on perfectly with the provided spacer. it is only time consuming removing interior in the rear

I have comments and one important thing to add to this topic as I've just done the job on my 2002 coupe.
Comments:
The seats and panels come off easy as described in the sticky. I had the lot stripped in 25 minutes so don't freak out and get intimidated by that part.
Addition:
The 6x9s I got were nice chunky infinity ones; a little too chunky as it turned out as the trunk springs were in the way I was dammed if I was not going to get my nice new speakers in so I worked round it. The trunk springs are now gone and replaced with gas struts. If you look at the trunk curved hinges you'll note that they have handy holes for that end of the struts and you just need to drill and bolt on two mounts for the other ends. Perhaps I should take a photo and put it in this thread as I don't have time to type a thousand words here.
Don't be intimidated by the 6x9 change: it is worth getting those shity little stock ones out of your nice Civic.

its part of the spoiler diy install on handaaccessories.com
and does anyone know if you even need them? how heavy could the trunk be that it needs torsion bars and springs to hold it up.

you don't NEED them, but if you don't have them and let the lid fall, the trunk slams hard each time. if you have a spoiler, it slams VERY hard. hard enough that i have to readjust my trunk latch every couple months. i have a spoiler with the standard springs, so it's like having no springs on a standard lid.
