Angry Electrical overhaul needed??.. im F****d

ok so i know when i bout the car about 2 yrs ago from a used dealership it had an old alarm system on it that wasnt working. Fast forward... now-a-days i can start the car and it will start fine and at times when i throw the headlights on i hear a very rought scratching noise.. i think its my starter turning over again like if you forgot your car was started and tried to start it (similar to that) and its sucks cause sometimes it does it at random. Should i just look into gettin a new car cause i did want to hurry and start my boost project but dont want to run FI if this thing can occur

Definitely, especially if it is wired into your ignition to act as an immobilizer. If the install was poor or someone was playing with it, some wires could have crossed and cause the problems you are having and many more. If that is the case you might also run into the problem of your car not starting some day as well. If you lived close to southern pa I could have a look at it but no one lives out this way . Good luck with it.

if it is like the 6th gens, alot. I could only imagine it would be expensive too. I would stick with going to a shop as i may cost u just the price of the harness lol. that or find a very helpful and knowledgable friend.

Cant you just unplug the alarm computer? My friend bought bmw from an auction that wouldnt start. I told him to disconnect the alarm and that fixed his problem. If i were you i would try disconnecting the alarm and see if that fixes the problem. You dont have to cut any wires. all the alarms that i have seen are on connectors.

If you can see the module, look for some wires running to the steering column. These are probably the wires to prevent a unauthorized start. Disconnecting the module will prevent the car from starting and you will need to have it removed completely. Look for a local shop to have it removed although it will prolly cost more then $100 depending on the quality of the shop.

if youre in maryland id offer to pull it out for you, it's a 10 minute job. if that. take it to a best buy and offer to pay an installer like $20 on the side to pull it out for you.

hey skipbarber, I think we're gonna have to meet up sometime. I got a buddy with a mkiii supra with the 1jzgte. He's pushing 290 right now and next year he's doing some work and expecting around 500. Maybe if you hang out with other tuners or vic owners it might be a good chance to trade ideas or thoughts about cars. I'm always looking to meet new people.
