What year is your car? From what I've heard 04-05's will have less glare than 01-03's. I drive an 03 with 5000k and have yet to have anyone hi-beam me.

If you put hid in a reflector housing, you sedn light up everywhere. There are many more lumens going everywhere causing lots of glare.
Doesnt matter what year you have, 1930's to 2009, if it is a reflector housing, it will glare badly.
I reccommend checking out hidplanet.com's university section as well as pictures/videos section. There are many pictures there and some of 7th gen civics showing the horrible output. Some people swear by them, but really there is no comparison.

Best route would be to go with projectors. I have 6000k philips hid kit in my car. I have an 04. Glare is less than it would be on an 01-03. When I first got the kit installed, I got high beamed all the time. After aiming the light lower, I haven't been high beamed since.
If I could do it all over again, I would probably go with projectors. I am planning to sell my car in the spring, so I'm not going the projector route.

If you dont want to do a full retro, change to some ebay projector housing and a hid kit for them.

ebay projector housings are crap. When you place HIDS in them, they absorb most of the light.
Now, if you wanted to use OEM phillips D2r bulbs, i would suggest getting CASPER shields. I have these in my car now and i have very very very lil glare, if none at all really, that i've never got high beamed once before.
the casper shield will allow you to use the phillips d2r bulbs in them. Don't use the d2s b/c those will produce glare, it has to be the d2r.
these are the shields and those are d2r bulbs.

if you really wanted the casper shields, you will have to piece together your hid kit.
what i did was buy a HID harnass off of ebay for the h4, go on HIDplanet.com or anywhere else to buy oem phillip ballast (or hella, same thing) along with some phillips d2r bulbs and you're good to go.
this will cost more than your everyday ebay hid kit, but will last longer and work better overall.

hmm a lot to consider
i have an 02 by the way
now will the casper shields will work on all bulbs correct?
so if i went with HID from this site possibly http://www.xenonvisions.com/ i could still use the shields?

casper shield is only made in h4 size, basically it converts the oem d2s hid bulb size to fit into h4 halogen housing, to simulate the small metal shield normally found in the h4 halogen bulb. other bulb size do not need the shield.

that is correct. The H/L bixenon are lows and highs with full casper type shields, one moving xenon bulb.

Just going by from what I was told on ClubRSX.
they are NOT casper shields, they are just shields for the rebased bulb.
that's the same thing as "OEM STYLE"

yeah a casper shield is a special device to fit OEM d2s bulb into H4 housing. with the pic you posted, the shield is there but its aftermarket rebased bulb of lower quality.

nemb question
are casper shields only for d2s/d2r bulbs
if that is true and i dont want to retro,
i have the choice of h4 or a d2s with shields.
is that correct?

yeah you can either get an h4 hid kit that will fit right in with all aftermarket hardware, or get the casper shields and use better quality oem d2s bulbs which are brighter and more reliable. the casper shield adapts d2s bulb to h4 housing only.
