Pioneer FH-P8000BT install with iPod/iPhone integration
Pioneer FH-P8000BT install with iPod/iPhone integration
Hey guys, I had been looking for the perfect iPhone/iPod solution for my car and finally settled on this double DIN Pioneer HU. It's feature set is amazing (BT Phone/Audio, direct iPod/iPhone connection using a regular iPod cable, 3.5 Aux in, sat/hd ready).
I wanted to do more than a simple HU install, with an aim to integrate an iPod/iPhone mount+cable solution, as well as integrating the power cable for my Garmin GPS.
I ended up picking up a Kensington Flexible arm windshield mount, but I didn't want it mounted on the windshield. My first idea was to run it out of the dash through the Fog light switch area (since I don't have fogs), however the desire to integrate my GPS cable as well took me in another direction.
I ended up taking out my 12v Power outlet, and running the mount through that opening along with an iPod cable. (I took off the suction cup and zip tied the mount in place on the dash trim). I then split my 12V outlet, plugged my Garmin cable into one outlet, and a second splitter into the other... I tucked that splitter up in the dash, and ran the cable to my garmin up near the left A pillar. I then ran the cable to the second splitter through the dash to the little compartment near the cupholders, here I mounted the second splitter (yielding two 12v outlets, and a USB outlet in car).
All I can say is that I'm very happy with the deck and the install. Browsing the iPod menus is pretty quick, and it has the ability to search by letter (a necessity on my 60GB), or to use the ipod for control.
BT calling is a snap, and the HU uploaded my iPhone contacts without a hiccup (you can upload up to 400 entries too!)...
Here are some pics, if you have any tips/questions feel free...

Sweet setup man. I like that alot. Very nice job on the install. I'd love to have a setup like that in the future or my next car.
