so yeah its really annoying. I have had a system since I got my civic and well the alternator whine is SO bad. it sucks... IDK if its the alternator itself or the wiring but the wiring is all how it should be. I also added AEM wideband and from this it got louder.

IDK what the problem is.


THe people with systems that dont have any problems can you explain it?

It's a very common problem. I answer this question many times before.
Alternator whine is most likely caused by a ground loop, which is an unwanted current somewhere in your circuit (or wiring). Mostly likely, you've grounded too many things to the same place. One or more of your devices are causing this, but it's hard to determine which one.

1. What I'd recommend is to recheck your grounds on everything you've installed, and ground them in different places. Do not have them going to the same terminal.
2.If that doesn't work, take out your entire system and wire them back again, keeping in mind of the grounding issues. When you take things apart, do it one device at a time, each time checking to see if you've rid of the alternator whine. If you disconnect a device and the whine stops, that device was the one causing the ground loop and thus, that annoying sound you hear. Just find somewhere else to ground it.

Keep in mind to disconnect the negative terminal on the battery every time you connect/disconnect something so you don't blow a fuse or ruin your system.

redo all the factory engine grounds with 4 gauge wire and gold ring terminals. redo the aftermarket cd player ground by running it to a good chassis point or back to the (-) battery. you can do the deck power upgrade too by running it to the (+) battery. use 14 gauge wire and 15 amp fuse. make sure the amp is grounded properly if you have one.

Can you describe the system in a little more detail? One amp, two amps? Running interior speakers, subs?? Aftermarket deck, factory using LOCs??

im surprised no one has recommended that yet....thats gonna be ur answer, its like 10-20 bucks. get some and plug it in ur RCA connectors and it will stop.

do this before you go through the hassle of taking ur system apart

also when u install your system (or ask the tech to do it for u) run the RCA sepratly from the power / grounds. the audio signal can induce whine though the power cable going to the battery using it like a antena.
