I am going to install an Alpine 9874 receiver in my 2002 Civic coupe. I would like to keep the remote lock feature functional so I'll probably have to keep the stock stereo hooked up (correct?). Also does someone make a Y cable to keep the stock stereo hooked up plus plug and play the Alpine? There's a lot of great info on this site but I couldn't find the answer to this one. If there is one already posted then I appologize and could someone point me in that direction?

Thx

Re: Alpine 9874 install
Are you referring to keyless entry? If so, if I remember correctly, 7th gens didn't have the keyless entry tied into the radio. That was one of the 6th gens like 97' or 98'. As far as a "Y" harness, you're gonna have to make one. I've been out of the Car Electronics field for a few years now, so I'm a bit rusty, but I believe what I said is right.

Re: Alpine 9874 install
Your stock headunit has NOTHING to do with ur keyless entry in a 7t gen. It only effects 98 or older civic. Go ahead with the install.

Re: Alpine 9874 install
Thx for the info. I thought an 02 civic needed the stock stereo for the keyless entry. But the stock stereo harness won't be the same as what the Alpine needs will it? If the answer is no where is a good place to find an adapter? Thx again!

Re: Alpine 9874 install
just go buy a wire harness from you local car stereo shop. and wire it up to your alpine harness.
