Whats your thought on this ...?
Hi all . Just a quick idea/question i want to bounce of the car audio afficondos here . Im drivin 2001 Civic Lx with oem issue cd player and stock speakers . Upgrading the audio was not on my to-do list at all as the home audio was top priority , but now im gettin the itch . Without goin nuts , and being reasonably impressed by the performance of the stock cd player , how much better do you think an after marker head unit would be ? I wish to use stock speakers for the next while anyway but head unit i will do now. i have purchased middle of the road Pioneer deh3400 mosfet 4 x 50 etc etc etc . Not yet installed , but impressed with features and sound on the board using similiar speakers , how much better performing will this unit be versus Honda cd deck . Will it be night and day ? Im assuming cleaner sound at higher levels etc . For 230 bucks Cdn it was a prety good deal given the features .
Let me know your thoughts , a huge improvement , a little one - remeber using stock speakers for a while yet . I have 20 grand in the living room and i dont need it in the trunk of car .

Well, I have the Pioneer DEH P7300 and it is awesome. I don’t know about any of the models lower than this, but I'm pretty sure they are all AT LEAST a huge improvement over the stock CD player. I noticed a huge difference when I installed my HU even with the stock speakers.... and an even BIGGER improvement when you throw in some components and 6x9s in the rear! But yes, it will be better than the stock. A dieing cat screeching in your ear would be better than the stock CD.
ok well i just got the premier deh-p740MP for 240 but thats american. Does the deck you bought have high pass filters on it. that is gonna be your best feature if it does because that way you no longer have to worry about bass distorting your speakers at high volume. if it doesn't then the stock cd player will prob sound the same as the new one.

well from lowest to highest end Pioneers they all use the same internal amplifiers and same D/A Converters..Given Pioneers internal amps are fairly clean it would be a pretty noticable improvement over stock.. However in keeping the stock speakers you will hear alot if distortion from the cone of the woofers themselves.. From honda your front speakers MSRP is $13..they are very very very cheap paper with a 4gram Neodynium magnet..
For HU Power only Kenwood and Clarion mae good speakers for low power applications.. The Kenwoods actually have pretty decent sub bass output in their 6x9's.. Now don't expect hi fidelity sound.. but expect a night and morning difference ..
