Problem with Alpine Head Unit when using iPod
Hey guys, I installed my stereo a couple weeks ago which includes:
Alpine CDA-9886
Memphis 16-X02 Crossover
Alpine KCE-422i iPod Conenection Cable
12" Alpine Type R Sub
Alpine Type R Speakers
Alpine MRP-M650 Amp
Alpine MRV-F250 Amp
Well when I use the iPod (which connects directly to the alpine stereo), only the driver side speakers work. I did check the connection being the iPod Cable and the stereo, and it is connected correctly. Any ideas of why this would be?
PS - CD's and radio, all speakers work.

Re: Problem with Alpine Head Unit when using iPod
i really doubt its a faulty cable. are your songs on your iPod encoded in stereo? or mono? stereo = seperation of audio into 2 channels
mono = blending of all audio to one channel.
check your songs in iTunes, and your Ipods EQ.
i would definetly say its a stereo/mono issue.
one way to test is to buy a new song from itunes, play it in your car, and see if it sounds different. all ituns songs are encoded at a stereo setting at a bitrate of 192kpbs. that means the sound quality isnt that great, but its decent. also, your setup is very very similar to mine. how do you like it?

Wow, Envy, you are very knowledgable. Haha. I just need to get to my car and see if I can find out the problem with your ideas.
I love the setup, sound great. I'm actually not finished yet either. I have not installed the rear speakers and the amp for all 4 speakers. So im excited to hear it once everything is installed.

actually, check your ipod connector. not the cable. i had the same problem with my old ipod and the connector for the alpine HU. i guess i screwed up the pins inside the connector and the alpine cable didnt work with it. once i purchased a new ipod, everything was hunkydory

Alright as of right now, I have updated software (Already had), checked the connector on the ipod and the ipod cable, and checked the back of the deck to check the connection.
Still have not tryed another iPod. Could be doing today.
