4 channel wiring diagram
Aight, so i have spent two nights seraching for a diagram or some type of good write up on how to install a 4 channel amp into my car without having to run new speaker wire to every speaker.
I have had amps in the past installed by tapping somehow into the speaker wires on the harness behind the headunit......
Can anyone help?!?!

Re: 4 channel wiring diagram
yea you can tap into the speaker wires in the back of the factory wireing harness. On the back of ur head unit there should be a RCA output labeled front (refer to your head unit manual) run that to ur 4 channel amp then run the speaker wire from the output on the amp L/R F/B up to your wireing harness and connect accordingly. the color coated wires should be labeled on the harness comming out of the factory harness

Oh yea what model do u have? do some research on ur car to see if you have a factory amp. You must disconnect fact. amp before hookin up aftermarket or you will blow the stock speakers, witch you prolly will ne way cause they suck.

Re: 4 channel wiring diagram
Well I'll try, but some have struggled with what I'm about to lay out for ya:
First of all, we'll assume you're mounting the 4channel amp in the trunk. If not, all of this is out the window.
So, the 4ch is in the trunk. You will run new speaker wire from the rear channels of the amp, to the rear speakers. Unhook (but save) the existing factory speaker wire hooked into the factory rears. And the rears are done.
Now comes the tricky part, the fronts. Run new speaker wire from the front channels of the amp, run them to and connect them to the existing factory rear speaker wiring near the rear speakers.
Then, go behind the head unit, and splice the front and rear speaker wires together (FL+ > RL+, FL- > RL-, FR+ > RR+, FR- > RR-). And that's it.
Basically, you take advantage of the existing factory spkr wire to power your fronts. And you run new wire to power the rears.
Yes there are many different ways to accomplish this. Although this might not make much sense at first, I don't know of an EASIER way to do this.

Re: 4 channel wiring diagram
umm i mounted my amp under my passenger seat and ran a new set of wires through the door molex. it was hard but worth it. i can trust that my wieres will never spontaneously combust.
Re: 4 channel wiring diagram
It a little confusing but insted of running the wires from the transition harness to the head unit run them to the amp and tape off the ones comming from the head unit and make sure there not touching will require you to run new wires from the harness to the amp where ever it may be located SORRY BOUT THE GAY PIC CAMERAS BROKEN

Re: 4 channel wiring diagram
amp is going in the rear of my pilot.....it is an lx so i dont think that there is a factory amp....if there is it must be small
ok so basically all i need to do is T-tap or splice the speaker wires from the harness with the signal from the amp?
I know all about running the rca cable, i was just wondering about how to splice the amp into the speaker cable without having to run new cable to the speakers....

Re: 4 channel wiring diagram
Sorry to threadjack
What are your amp dimensions and how well does it fit under the seat? Does it stick out? I was just about to buy a four channel but I started thinking it wouldnt fit under the seat.
End thread jack
IMO You should run new speaker wire so you'll get some better sound quality. You spent money on the amp so you might as well optimize it.

Re: 4 channel wiring diagram
I dont know the exact dimensions, but it is an Alpine MRD-F450. I assume the F250 is the same as well. It fits PERFECTLY under my coupe passegner seat. When its back, it is totally hidden. WWhen you roll it up to let people in, it only sticks out a bout 1/4" inch. Barely any. It never gets stepped on, etc. The carpet actually kinda goes up the side, so it discourages possible steppers. Ill get you a pic soon. With 4 gauge power wires and 16 gauge speaker wires, the width is just enough to sit it wide-ways (not longways) and have it clear all springs, brackets, etch under my srs seat. Hope this helps
Re: 4 channel wiring diagram
I wouldnt amplify stock speakers. Period. And if your running more than 30rms, I would HIGHY reccomemend running your own wires. Its much more reversible, and by tearing out the head unit wires, you will lose any deck power for tweeters, non-amplified speakers.
Re: 4 channel wiring diagram
OK, so that's going to be quite a bit different from how you'd do a civic (which was what I described). For what you want to accomplish you really have two options. One would be to get some speedcable (a cable with 8 or more wires in it for speakers) and run that from the new amp to the back of the factory deck, and then splice the wires in there.
Another (this might be trickier depending on how you look at it) would be to run speaker wire from the new amp to each door. There, you can catch the factory speaker wires as they go into each door. Again, not necessarily very easy but it works well.
And yes there's a good argument if you're running new wires to each door, you might as well go the next step and run wires into the door and directly attach to the spkr. But since you've asked about using stock wires I'll give you the best options I know of.

Re: 4 channel wiring diagram
no one said tear them out. Look the guy wanted a simple solution to hook up an amp to stock not go all out on the project. just answer the question. end of story its his car he can do as he wishes
