Quetsions about Adding new lighting options
Hey guys i got a 2004 Honda Civic DX.
1. M3 Side Mirros from Ebay
Car has no automatic mirrors or anything, how hard would getting these mirrors power be?
2. Fog Lights
(problem with this would be i wouldnt mind connecting them to turn on when my HID lights turn on but im not using a relay id like to know if it would be a problem to turn them on using the same adaptor as such or if there is an alternative way to connect the fogs using the fuse box and wiring?)
3. Looking for Side Blinkers
(im guessing thoes will fit what ever wires i use to connect the side mirrors with if so which ones and where can i buy a cheap set from Radio Shack maybe?)
Thanks for the help i looked in some of the DIY and wasnt too much help. Cant Wait to get it out on the road.

Re: Quetsions about Adding new lighting options
1. they'll fit, but they wont plug. and rewiring will have to be done (tapping or splicing the wires) if u want to to be powr-operated. but some modding will have to be done, because you have an extra joystick thingy to adjust it, while we (ex and lx) dont have that. plus its a bitch taking out.
2. jsut wiring them with the relay provided to ur headlights. not as easy as it sounds.
3. u realize ur gonna have to be cutting ur fenders. with a dremel tool of some sort. and that is pretty hard/skilled-require... and making sure ur cutting them as so, so that the paint doesnt chip.
to be honest, it doesnt look like u know waht ur doing or if you have had any expierence with automotive stuff.
i suggest you get someone else to do it for you. so u dont screw aynthing up.

Well, i only ask basic questions to work with the detail i get frome very answer.. ive seen alot of the DIY i know i have to cut the fender etc i said im looking for them not.. wondernig how to do it. (the side blinkers)
Well hmm i guess ill lieave the side mirrors and side blinkers alone.
As for the Fog LIghts they come wiht a Relay that plugs into the fog light.. and then comes into the car does it have to be ran into the car or does it connect to the fuse box??IM guessing the car already has a place for the Fog lights to be connected correct?

Re: Quetsions about Adding new lighting options
for the sake of your car, do NOT perform 1 and 3 by yourself, get them done by a shop, and as for #1, the cost associated with it, i really wouldnt bother, but thats just me, the wiring will be fairly extensive i presume, so that = $$$, and the drilling required for the side blinkers leaves almost no room for error, plus possible paint chipping if you dont do it correctly, save yourself a new paint job and get a shop to do the work

also for the sake of your car and your own safety, don't run your HID's anymore till you get a relay harness for them. you're just begging to burn up your car's wiring. no, not a fuse, an electrical fire.

Re: Quetsions about Adding new lighting options
This HID havent given me any problem as of yet? Everything works fine how would i "start and eletrical fire"??
Could this be the reason they flicker a little bit at the inital start up after a 30-40 seconds?
How would this relay i purchase work? Will it connect to the factory harness and how much modification will it require? THANKS.

Thanks for information which I already knew. Oh and for the spelling you might wana recheck your reading skills other then using apostrophies in words like "wouldn't" and my "I"'s being lower case you might want just hold your lips tight.
THanks. I asked for a suggestion and information not a editorial.
Feel free not to comment on my topics in the future. Apperciate it.

as i said, stock wires are 22awg.... a relay needs to be at least 16(at the worst) but suggest at 12awg.
Re: Quetsions about Adding new lighting options
I Guess its not bad while its still winter but i will have to look to change that so how will the relay work and what do i ask for to get it, is it just a general "automotive light relay" ??
Thanks.
Oh and i mounted a ballast with Duck Tape im guessing thats a bad idea huh? I mounted it to the battery plastic case and taped around it and put the batttery back in im not shore how long it will last but do you have another place to mount it i dont know where that can go.
Thanks.

Re: Quetsions about Adding new lighting options
you can get them online. universal relays for HID setups. and no just because its winter, that doesnt mean its not bad... they heat up because up the voltage going through the wires.. then they melt, then they flame.. its just a matter of time. stop running your HIDs for safety purposes and as a general precaution.
Re: Quetsions about Adding new lighting options
Can, i be given a webiste to purchase them from thanks.
Also, so thats a lie when they say its "simple plug and play"
With the relay would that not boost the volatage or atleast make it more stable?

Re: Quetsions about Adding new lighting options
Search for them on ebay, 9006 relay harness, roughly 20-30$. They allow your HIDs to draw power directly from the battery and not from the stock wires, which would be bad. Everything is plug and play in that you do not need to cut and splice anything.

Re: Quetsions about Adding new lighting options
I've done two and three, they arent hard. I guess I wouldnt cut into my fenders if I had shaky hands... I dunno... for fogs you gotta cut into your bumper anyways.
To power fog lights, you can run them off the fuse box, thats the preferred way. And yes, use a relay to turn them on with your lights. You can buy an external switch as well- which is a good idea if you ever want to not use your fog lights while your headlights are on, or any combo there of.
As for the mirrors, it wouldnt be too hard, find a power source from either the battery or the fuse box, and then run the power wires across through the wirelooms in the door and up through the panel. This also isnt hard.
Basically for all of these things you'll need a lot of patients, a dremel, a sheet metal nibbler tool, panel popper, basic tools and electrical stuff like wire, wire cutters/strippers, relay, fuse, connectors, stuff like that.
There are DIY's out there I believe. Sleepy, didnt you make a DIY on the fog install? Or was that LT? I know someone did in the past year and it had pics and was pretty good. I dunno why ppl still have problems.
IE doesnt have the red/green lines either... what plugin are you using? I'm also using xp tho.
