I have been searching far and wide, and everytime I think I know what I have to get, I get more confused. I got a Metra 99-7865 for my AVIC-D3 but the installer says its not going to work. I called Metra and they told me to get the 99-9999. From what I've seen, it looks like there needs to be some modifications if I get the 99-9999. For the people that went through the same situation I was in, what kits have you guys used, whether be Scocshe, American International or Metra?

ive always used metra kits, but i didnt think you needed a kit at all to put a double din in the SE models. There was a double DIN kit for non SE's that i used to cut the middle divider line out of to fill in the gaps on the sides. this is the 99-7865 is for the NON SE dash:

the 99-9999 DEFINATELY WONT work...

the SE's dash doesnt have that fat upper right corner to fill in since it already has a double DIN from the factory. i personally think you dont need a kit at all.

That is the kit I have. The installer says something about getting a kit with brackets that will attach to sides. As you can see, I don't know crap about dash kits. I just want this AVIC-D3 to not have a gap around the sides of it. (There is a gap about a mm's between the AVIC-D3 and the sides of the dash.

i thought the se already has a double din dash trim for the double din radio it comes with. without any divider in the middle.

It's already mounted, but you know how some people are (me included) are **** about how things go.

The trim is silver, not that it's not usuable if its silver, but the way that it fit the original HU is that it was an overlay around the edges (if that makes any sense). And the edges of the HU had curves, so at least for me I think it's non-usuable.

I'll try to post a pic to show you what I mean.

I also got a trim on ebay that might work, only 12 dollars, I'll post up a pic after work to show you and you guys can let me know if it will work.
