Do polk db651's fit in the front doors of sedan?

I've read great things about these speakers, but Cruchfield says I will have problems getting the door pannel back on due to the height of the speaker.
(also requires spacer bracket).
If anyone knows if these will install in the front doors of an 04 sedan please let me know!!

Thanks.

if you know the depth of the speaker, and you read the sticky in this forum, you can answer this for yourself.

Thanks for the reply 'electric130', but the problem isn't with the depth, it's the "height" I'm unsure about.

fair enough....

by depth, i mean front to back as mounted. by height, i assume you mean top to bottom as mounted in the door. in that case, if you make your own spacers like i did in my DIY, you can make them whatever size you want.

does that make sense?

i had to put 1" spacers on my memphis audio's the magnets were huge, and my door panels wouldnt go on all the way, about 1/4" from the door, even after i trimmed the panel

My main concern is if the tweeters are going to touch the inside of the door pannel, and if so, can I remove some of the plastic from the pannel to make room. (or remove the grill of the tweeter).

Thanks for the responses!!

post up pics of the speakers, maybe we can help u out more if we can see them, my memphis audio components had removable tweeters, so that they can be relocated, but the center still had clearance, but i also put in 6.5s

Re: Do polk db651's fit in the front doors of sedan?

sounds like they are very similar to the depth of my speakers, and i wouldnt worrry about the tweeters hitting, there is plenty of clearance for tweeters, just make sure that the woofer cone doesnt hit the door panel, which is trimmable where the speaker grille is, not a lot, maybe a 1/4", but enough so it doesnt hit the cone, or surrounding foam, but u will need some spacers, probably at least 5/16" but id prolly go 1/2" so u make sure and clear the window, otherwise it wont go all the way

Re: Do polk db651's fit in the front doors of sedan?

This ones for Si Dan. About two weeks ago I just installed similar speakers. I used Polk Audio db651s. Notice the "s." Its for slim mount. They are awesome! I also purchased them from Crutchfield. They gave me all the install gear that I needed! Hit me up for any install tips. I should have a DIY up tomarrow. Hope this helps.
