Rewiring cigarette lighter to have power w/o ignition?

I just read Kirbert's thread about rewiring power windows so that you can roll them up/down without the keys in the ignition. I think it is a great idea and plan to do it this weekend.

To add to this, how would you go about rewiring the cigarette lighter socket so that it had power without keys in the ignition?

same sort of thing. take the cig. lighter's wires and rewire them onto either the battery or some wire that doesn't need key to have power....personally i hate when the cig. lighter is set up like that. if you accidentally leave something plugged in like a laptop with inverter. then your battery is gone. I've had that happen a few times on trips with rented cars...it sucked.
