sorry, this sounds kinda foolish, but what is an indiglo gauge overlay and how will it mess up the readings? but i should be fine and dont need to return it?

Re: cluster

for the 01-02 style gauges they have white face covers that glow blue/green that you put on top of your existing cluster. if you get the wrong one the rpm wont read right cause the scale is different for auto and manual. if you are swapping whole clusters, there is no problem, they both use the same rpm wire.

now also there are two style of cluster. old style is 01-02 lx/ex and 01-05 dx/vp. the new style is LED lit and has the white numbers and blue/red rings for 03-05 lx/ex. now you can swap old with old but if you swap new and old you have to rewire the pins. so if you got the older style with tach for 01-02 lx/ex it will plug right in. any pics? also changing the cluster will change the mileage to what is on the new cluster.

Re: cluster

its all installed now. it took about ten minutes to complete. i just plugged in the blue and green plugs into the new cluster and screwed it in. everything works perfect, it has no problems, at least not so far.

Re: cluster

Look for a white sticker in the glovebox (side panel) with a 5 digit code.

If you tried entering #s you may need to leave radio on for a while (locked) to get another attempt at entering code.

Re: cluster

thanks ill try that. but when it first happened, i entered one too many codes trying to figure it out. i know, dumb. but if i just leave it on, it will eventually let me enter the code that should be in the glove box?

Re: cluster

or you could just disconnect the battery again and get some more tries. If all else fails you can give the radio serial number to honda and they should be able to get you your code. There is also way to get the radio to display the code with a certain combo of button pushing but I cant remember which ones. do a search see if it is on here somewhere

youre prolly gonna have to take the radio out to look at the serial so honda can look up the code. they shouldve given it to you when you bought the car. its a security anti-theft thing

Sorry to correct you gearbox but u dont realy have to take out the stereo to get the code .. U press the 1 and 6 button on the preset radio options for 5 seconds and it gives the serial number .. the stealership guy will then take this serial number .. put it on his computer linked with some Honda NA site which gives him the code.

Oh andplease ... when u get to the delaership try asking the person who has a smile on his face and u think hes having a gud day... coz there is a chance that some pissed off beaten by his wife kinda worker might wanna charge u a $100 bucks for it ...
My 2 cents !!!``
