plexiglass help
i "stubled" across 1 1/2" thick plexiglass and we had the crazy idea of buildin a box with it, so im set on an idmax 12 and make a 1.3 cube box with it, we got the tools for it, but everyones stumped on the same thing.....how to get it to stick without screws or bolts
im going across every audio forum i can find with this question and am lookin for any ideas, were thinking of making it seamless or to use some sort of bracing thats color matched, but thats as far as we can go......

there is a special plexiglass adhesive, that in reality isnt an adhesive. it melts the seams and has them fuse to each other to create in essence one giant box shaped piece of plexi.
you will need http://www.rplastics.com/weldon4.html
you will also need good, very large clamps to set the plexi together
you will need to be able to make absolutely perfect flawless cuts
you also need something to buff the plexi edges before you bond them
you will also need a proper drill bit to make your speaker mounting holes, although i've found standard bits, with the drill set in reverse works fine
it's not easy to get it perfect with no scratches or imperfections

Ive done lots of work with plexi glass. If it really is that thick, then trust me, use bolts. Cut the edges as well as straight as you possibly can, put some 3m double sided tape on the edge, and then drill a hole and tap it for a bolt. You will want to countersink the adjoined piece and put a nice neat hex-bolt in there. It looks very professional if you do it right. And it is not hard, it just takes time.

^Yeah, but that kind of defeats the purpose of doing it. One of the things he wanted to avoid were screws, so I'm not sure if that's really an option for him.
