Ignition wire for an amplifier

I need to connect my amplifier to ignition wire in OEM head unit of 2005 coup.
Can I do it without removing whole console and head unit itself?

Thanks

Alex

No. Just get an aftermarket head unit and do it all at once. OEM head unit and an amp/sub shouldn't mix. They can, but its pointless.

buy an "inline convertor" from best buy or some where like that and you can use the amp on a stcok face, or you can get an mtx thunder ( newer series ) amp and tap the wires in ( they are made to ba able to run w/a factory face no convertor) and no you cannot get to it w/out taking the whoel damn dash apart ( not really the whole thing but most of it )

sure you can if you use a line out converter and splice the rear speaker wires

Actually I have small MTX Thunder 2 channels, and I intent to convert my rear speakers to some kind of cheap sub, I don't need line converter with this amp, and I can just slice speakers' wireand connect to the sub, and easy run power cable to the battery, the only thing I need it's an ignition wire for the amp, and I really don't want to take down whole dash appart.
Any other options?
Thanks guys

So you'll spend $100+ on an amp, $50+ for a sub, hook everything up......but you really don't need it to sound good? Just a weak thump is sufficient? In my opinion, the OEM unit is the first thing that comes out.
I've personally never heard what a line converter sounds like hooked up to an amp, so if it sounds decent, I'll eat my previous comments.

edit: Its pretty easy to get to the back of the head unit. check out this DIY

Don't sweat it at all. Its easy.

No, actually I won't spent a cent except for wires, I have old MTX thunder 4122, and I want to try to connect my OEM rear speakers to the amp and hear the result. I'll keep you informed

Thanks

what you can do and probly the easiest thing to do is get that inline converter thing that everyone is saying. and then with your remote wire for the amp. you can just splice that in to your acc. wire such as your cigarette lighter. it just needs a a 12v source going to the amp to turn on when your car turns on. if that makes any sense. im not no tech or anything but i have done a few installs like this and it seems to work.

I have to agree if your going to do it why not do it right one time instead of doing it a few times, get a aftermarket head unit and call it a day

well good luck w/that, and the inline converter sounds fine on a stock unit, its not going to give you anything special but it works to add bass to your stock system

i guess you could wire the inline to the rear deck speaker wires, you would just need a little bit more wire to do so, should serve the same purpose, never done it that way but it would stop you from taking the dash apart, that and your rca's would only need to be like 3ft instead of 10, might save you a few bucks.

It's the whole idea - save some bucks and add some bass
