siren failed

well it was raining pretty hard and i drove through some puddles, and now whenever i arm/disarm the siren sounds all distorted and you can barely even hear it. im guessing the humidity/water killed it. so, is this the kind of thing that will get fixed when it dries out? or is it dead for good. and what kind of replacement should i get?

im glad i can finally help out the most helpful guy on 7thgen so here goes. Repalce the siren with any 12v alarm siren. You can get motor driven and or a waterproof siren. Ebay has em for cheap. But you gotta replace it. Same thing happened to me after 2 hurricane seasons

even if it worked, it's one of those things where it will never work the same even once dried out.

motor driven is much much louder if alarm goes off. 1/2 as loud as an emergency siren. Go waterproof tho. I didn't last time and regreted it. Now works sometimes and doesn't most of the times

well its working not that it dried, its just really hi pitched but it means i have some time. i bid on an oem siren from bmw, if i dont win i'll just get this. its 1 tone which i want, and it has a warble (alternating) mode kinda like a police car siren. im never getting another "car alarm" siren cause they suck. it says waterproof but obviously not.

Good news everybody... Gearbox's broken item for the month is cheaper than 50 dollars and it was on the 1st day of the month. We may go another 30-60days before another part on his car dies on him.

+1 rep for the most unlucky guy when it comes to aftermarket products purchased for his own vehicle.

lol. theres tons of space in the fender to fit it. i think the pic makes it bigger than it really is.

well after today it sounds just like normal, and since im too lazy to take off the bumper again, ill just leave it. might still win that bmw alarm so maybe sometime later it can go in
