lightest, cleanest way to add a sub?
i know this is prolly not possible, but i was looking for a way to cleanly add one 8" sub with ideally an integrated amp combo and somewhat hidden/clean install with the smallest possible weight.
yea, you could get a couple 8s for your seats... dont expect much from just one though
crutchfield did a test for the 6 inch kenwood one and said it was ok.... and i think theres a 7inch clarion one too

ah okay the kenwood could go behind the seats right? hmm something to consider. i have amped 6.5 and there is plenty of bass on some songs, just would be nice to have a bit more punch. and this means i gotta run new wires again oh lol. thanks guys
are you looking for premade or custom?
go custom!
since you like to DIY so much, you can get a Marine style subwoofer...those dont need sealed enclosures like most. then you could probably very easily mount it in the rear deck, it would require some cutting, but it would mean its up out of the way of anything going into your trunk or foot room. then you could mount an amp againts the wall in the trunk or under the seat, maybe even screwed up onto the bottom of the rear deck, again out of the way. the only problem would be a way to get the sound through the plastic trim piece, im sure you could cut it and put speaker cloth over the whole or something, maybe cut it so it fits right over the speaker grille.

was looking more for prefab, and that kenwood looks great. im getting old for diy. anyone know how much it weighs, and what i would need in terms of power wire and such (what thickness)?
kenwood 7.9 lbs.
clarion 5.9 lbs.
i would stay away from the clarion one though... poeple on crutchfield say it sucks
and i wouldnt put either of these anywhere but under the seats or else you wont hear them

i have a pair of tube enlcosures that weigh close to nothing.. perhaps 5-10 pounds at most. they are for the elemental designs eu700. but they can fit any speaker thats about that size. but if you want light, this is probably the best option. with about 75wrms going to each they were doing pretty good. full power would have been better, but my 4 channel could only do 75. im not using my tube enclosures anymore since i have a better use for the two speakers. but if youre interested, im willing to set up a deal with you for the boxes.
im not sure what car you have. but you could mount the amps upside down underneath the rear deck. and remove the torsion bars if they are in the way and replace them with gas shocks.

i would say just get a 12, cuz i remeber when i wanted a lil punch and gota 10.. eventually i jus wanted more so i got 2 12's.. just a thought.. I know that ALPINE has a new technology called PLT-5 Its pretty small and it hits like 2 12s.
Alpine PLT-5
LAT Subwoofer System
Specs 21-5/8"W x 13-3/8"H x 8-7/8"D1 x 6-13/16"D2
not sure the weight

IB is infinite baffle. basically you turn your trunk into a big sub box. what this requires is you sealing off your entire trunk from the cabin of the car. at least this way you only worry about the weight of a sub.

Small box mounted upfiring through speaker hole in rear deck. Small amp mounted to rear deck.
Non of the Stealthbox type things I've found fit sedans. If you want to wait a couple of months, I've got a guy working on prototypes that fit behind the wheel wells in the trunk. FG so save some weight, but will be at least 10", maybe 12.

you dont have to do this with 15's, you can do this with 8's. or one 12. or one 18. you know. whatever.
