To all awesome installers out there?
Hey guys I just got my first real job. After working on mine and my familys cars for so long, hehe. I am going to be redoing the interior of a 1984 Chevy C-10 pickup truck. I am installing a cd player in it. My assumption is that when I pull the old tape player out of it, there will be those metal brackets running vertical in the way of installing a cd player. How do you guys usually take care of these brackets? What do you do to install the cd player?
What kind of kit would you use just any metra kit or do they make some for them? Thanks guys, realitycheck

I'm Pretty sure it used to have the shaft Style radio, so youll have to take it out (by pulling the ***** off then removing out from the back) then take an airsaw and cut out the hole for the right size hole (din sleeve makes a perfect template) then slide it right in! good luck man!
Thanks guys, thats a really good idea for using the sleeve as a template. One last question, I know the stock radio is much bigger than the cd player. What should I use to fill up that gap? I thought about just getting some abs sheet and trying to fill it but I dont know anyone that sells it in Birmingham, AL. Someone said best buy does but I dont know if thats true.

i don;t know about best buy sellign ABS. but if you buy an install kit it should have the extra part on it to fill the gap. I didn't even thing about what kind of radio was proably in the 84 S10. but an install kit should work non the less.

i would just make a plate, and use that as the mounting bracket it self. so just make it set the radio cage in there and make it secure. then mount it in, and put back the trim pieces. then slide the radio in the cage and your good to go.
