02 Civic Ex Coupe Speaker/HU gen questions
02 Civic Ex Coupe Speaker/HU gen questions
I just purchased an infinity basslink powered sub and I will install it tomorrow. I have a few general questions about the system. First off, I am all stock and will be tapping into the speaker level (high level) outputs to provide my amp with a signal. Does anyone have experience with doing this, because I am wondering what kind of SQ this will provide since the stock deck isn't the best. I do have an aftermarket deck sitting around but I am reluctant to install it because I want to keep my keyless entry, and dont want any visible reason to break into the car. I also have a pair of MB Quart 6X9s laying around and I am also wondering if it is even worth throwing them in the car if I remain with the stock deck. I guess I will break it down into a 4 questions:
1. Is it true that I will lose keyless if I remove the stock deck?
2. How would the stock deck sound powering a pair of MB Quarts in the rear?(would it sound better than the stock 6X9s if underpowered)
3. Does the stock deck provide a decent high level signal with low distortion?
4. Is there a very cheap solution given the things I have (basslink, After market HU, EQ, MB Quarts) to solve all my problems?
I would really appreciate any answers to any of the questions even if you can only answer a few...

7th gen civics dont have the KE integrated with the radio like the 6th gen did.
As far as the basslink, its a great powered sub. its not going to rattle your car loose or anything but it will fill in the bottom end. Tapping into your speakers for the high level will work fine. they have inputs for four speakers, but you only need two. they have four speaker connections so you wont loose your bass if you fade your speakers a certain way
dont even think about putting those quarts in with the oem deck. speakers die from distortion, which happens frequently when they are being underpowered.
like anything else, you get what you pay for

Thanks for the info, it seems i might as well install the deck I have. Any suggestions on mounting kits etc, and should I still use high level or should I switch to rca's when I install the new deck.
I use this dash kit so I could keep my stock pocket under the HU
METRA 99-7897 HONDA CIVIC 2001 DASH KIT
Use the RCA's while you are running the power and remote to the amp, so you can always have a different option when you decide the high pass sucks.
