Amp just quit on me!!! help

Ok so I had been cruising around town for about an hour or so listening to my system which i just got hooked up this saturday (Jl 12w7 and jl 1000/1) . So after i cruise around i start to head home, and i pulled in my driveway. Then just to hear it real loud one more time i started to turn up the volume, left it at a high volume for like 5 seconds then my sub just stopped hitting, so i looked back and the power light on my amp was off. Any ideas what might have went wrong?? I don't know anything about car audio which is why i didn't hook it up myself so try and explain urself like ur talkin to an idiot so i can understand thanks lol

check the fuses on your power wire or amp. if that is not the case check your ground on your amp

it might have overheated - some amps literally shut down to protect from damage. Did it come back after a period of time?

the amp itself should have a fuse "plugged" into it. there should also be a fuse inline with your battery lead.

I have a Jl 500/1 (2)W3-12v2..........I blew to amps (500/1) got the first one fixed wasnt under warr. then the second one blew too got it replaced under the repair warr. (less than 3 months) I found out that my remote lead wire was touching the metal support bar behind the deck...............TO SUM IT UP CHECK YOUR WIRING FROM DECK TO AMP AND ALL AREAS IN BETWEEN!!!!

Bigger fuses arent allways better, just so you know. If it doesnt blow quick enough you could hurt something. Fuses are desigend to blow for a reason!

in his case any fuse would have blown as it sounds like the positive lead shorted out but yes fuses are rated for a reason.

Might I recommend a circuit breaker here? They don't have to be replaced like fuses, just reset.
