amp dead?
Im wondering how easy it is to kill your amp? I took a turn and my set-up shifted and ripped the power wire off of the capacitor and when I re-wired everything the amp will not work. I checked with a test light and a DVOM and both showed that the was voltage at the amp but nothing happened, amp wont turn on and subs wont hit. The remote also has power to it. Ground is also good. I dont know what is wrong with it other then it being broken. All the fuses are also in good condition and the capacitor still works! Sorry for this being so long Im just wondering if I broke my amp which was very expensive. Thanks in advance
Does the amp light up, what kind of amp is it. If you definately metered your wires and there is nothing turning on then the amp is dead. If it turns on and the speakers dont play then maybe you broke the RCA's during the fall.

Secure your equipment for mach 3 around turns j/k

when you say the power wire ripped off the capactior, is their any way it coulda have shorted out to the output terminals of your amp? sending 12 volts dc into those terminals could easily kill an amp

On a side note, why you dont have things mounted down so you dont rip wire out in the first place just baffels me.

it was a quick install so the whole mounting thing was a little over looked, i just visually checked the fuses so yeah i will see how much resistance they have. The grounds are fine and yes i tried without the cap still no results. thanks for the input guys

If you just did a visual check you could be wrong, cause a lot of times the fueses can apper to be good, when in fact are blown. Also have you tried checking your grounds or removing the cap? Just rule as much out as possible before you take it in and see if its blown.. You do have a warrenty on it right?

actually the output stage of an amplifier operates on AC. Music is a sine wave and cant be reproduced with direct current.

Check all your fuses with a DMM. Check all your wires from front to back, make sure none are touching anywhere. Does it light up? Thermal light come on? If all else fails it should have a warranty. And secure them amps please. They can become a projectile in the wreck and hurt you worse than you would be had they been secured.
