when you guys say don't????
When you guys say not to bother amping the rear 6x9, is that because it will actually sound worse then just amping the components or is it just because it is a waste of money. I already have a 72X4 rms amp that I was gonna install, I can sell it and get a 2 ch amp, I just want my system to sopund the best.

Why..
Well because technically for best sound you want all the sound to be coming from in front of you. Like in your home. Adding rear fill is good fror rear passengers. But if the rear speakers are louder than the fronts. it makes it sound like the music if coming from behind you. Amp the 6X9's just set your gainst higher so that they aren't playing as loud as your front speakers.

I would definitely amp them because power is never a bad thing, but make sure the fronts are turned up higher than the rear like Mohawk suggested. The back needs to just be fill. You want to hear the music coming from the front.
If you want a system that sounds good hook those babies up. You want the sound to be coming from all around and even. Plus in a home theatre system, you don't want all the sound coming from the front. If that was the case then why do the build THX systems with 120x7 and suggest that you have voice matched speakers. Because they want the sound to be nice and even all around. Rear speakers are not placed in vehicles just for the rear passenger. They are for the driver to enjoy. Also the 6x9's will add a nice midrange that most subs and 6.5's can not fill.
