Sound Stage
Sound Stage
Well, I've been working on this for a while, and I have received a lot of suggestions from WhiteRabbit, thanks.
At the mean time I have a center stage from tuning. Next thing I am interesting in is to put the stage away from me as far as possible. Anybody has any idea to do this?

Anything is possible.... doesn't mean it's easy. In extreme cases I've seen speakers mounted on shock towers (Eldridge I think it was)... I have my speakers in my kick panels currently and the stage is a bit further away than in the doors, but I don't know how far forward you want to go....
I don't have my IASCA rulebook handy (although I believe it's just out in my car), but the points you will get for having your soundstage at your window is pretty good.

speaker firing and reflection control. do you have a dash mat? and are your speakers relatively off axis?
I find dulling the top end helps distance to the listening position, as does off axis installation. not sure if thatll help you, I think we are running in different locations. worth a shot though.
I think the dash mat especially will help. if you already have one, I might try padding the underside to see if that helps any. you can just take a carpet scrap and toss it under there to test, before doing any real work.

im gonna have to agree with scuba steve there...
short of mounting mids in the engine bay, theres really no set method to adding depth to a stage...
there are plenty of things to try. if youre running an active setup, there are even more things to play with and tweak

I tried a lot of things actually...Tunning, switching from passive to active, relocation, phase...
Speaking about tunning...I have 1 specific band (out of 31 bands) at 8kHz that is damn loud relative to all other bands, and at 250 and 315Hz...All other bands are pretty smooth...What can I do to those bands?
