best sounding connection for a sirius unit
after searching i decided to buy a antenna fm adaptor for my stock headunit to connect to my sirius reciever. The quality was better than the standard fm tuner, but it still isnt as loud and clear as i would want it. Is there any way to get a better connection and if so how? Maybe rca's? with a OEM headunit? any help is appreciated!

i have the ai-net connection directly to the head unit which is the best quality and it still sounds worse than fm. just fair warning that music won't sound near as good as cd or fm.

ok, so even if i was to get an rca adapter for the car, it still wont be as clear or as loud? Waht if i were to replace the headunit and get a sirius ready unit....? would the clarity go up? or still stay less than FM?

just get a sat ready hu i know the new alpines are both xm/sirius ready. then buy the alpine specific tuner or whatever deck you get. cable is always better than modulating, but the quality still won't be better than fm radio. the satellite radio quality is comparable to a 50kbps mp3 file.

the quality is about the same between the two and ya the programs didn't impress me but sirius has more stuff than xm like nfl and howard.
I'm unusually bored.

I find it strange that most of the music channels and Stern are crystal clear but raw dog (comedy channel) sounds like AM radio, no matter how its hooked up. Back to the point, they make a wired FM modulator that the stock antenna wire plugs into then you plug a wire from it into your headunit. Sounds much less static-y. I have one in my work truck, and I'm going to get one for the civic.

Tony thats what i have right now and i can tell a night and day difference between using it and not, but i would like the music to be able to be played a little louder, without having to worry about distortion due to maxing my speakers out.

forget it. you want loud you're gonna have to play a cd. 65kbps for sat radio is nowhere near a cd and not even fm. its just not possible to make it sound better than what they send you. i'm gonna try the bbe sound processing that alpine has but i doubt it will do much.

I know your not a fan of sat. radio, but there's no need to exaggerate.

i'm just going by what i hear. most people in my car think i'm playing a cd when i have fm radio on. it sounds very crisp with good protortions of sound and hardly any static. Then i turn to satellite radio and its like listening to the factory speakers and deck all over again. Sometimes i even hear popping sounds from the speakers! I'm not making it up. if you were nearby i'd have you come over and hear for yourself.
there's an issue with the RIAA about streaming audio and the concern that people will record it and therefore obtain *free* music without paying for it. By reducing the quality of the broadcast it ensures that even if people do so, they won't have very good source.

Right now i have the antenna fm modulator (antenna hook up) for the unit, wired to fm out on my sirius starmate unit, i then have to tune it to a dead station (which it is). the unit recieves full bars at all times (unless in a parking garage (b/c of the overhang). Just wondering if i will get a clearer sound with an rca hook up.....my girlfriend has Xm in her car (jetta) and the clarity and loudness is awesome.

-Alpine CDA-9847 MP3 Player
-Alpine MRP-F240 Amp
-Infinity Reference Speakers
-Infinity Tweeters
It would make me feel better if i could listen to someone else's sirius just to be sure its not something i installed wrong.

hey i was looking around and this unit looks cool, the jensen line is getting better but still cheap in my opinion but built in bluetooth
JENSEN MP8610BT
it says there is an rear rca input, this would allow me to wire the ipod and the sirius unit via rca cable right? Would this sound better than the stock unit....assuming that the jensen unit is a lil stronger than the stock radio???
