MB Quart vs. Infinity?

I was wondering what the overall opinion is out there on these two great brands. Which one do you like better and why? I've had both before and they're both great. Also, which one has better tweeters?

wow, tough choice. I personally have a bias towards MB Quarts because my brother had a pair of Infinity Kappas in his Tercel a couple years ago and they melted from sun exposure. it was probably his fault for not covering them properly or something, but still, they shouldn't melt. they both sound great though.

the speakers my bro had were in the rear deck. maybe it was just a fluke case or something.

Hey I would tottally go with the top of the line MB Quarts or Eclipse if you want really good sound quality. but I have had infinitys before and there pretty good too but not as good.

Okay well the Infinity Kappa Perfects are pretty good..great midbass.. good tweeter.. nicely detailed sound... the MBQ's depending on the model all sound good, although tweeter mounting for them is crucial if you don't want your ears to bleed..What models were you looking at and I can re-itterate more.

Cheers

ok i thought mb quarts would be great so i got some RSB series 6 1/2's for front and rear. built a bridge for tweeter to sit over mid in front and built panels to fit rear opening. Used foam spkr baffles to protect from rain in front and from spl in rear. these spkrs retail for 500 a set. Hooked the up to an A/D/S 100 X4 amp and these things rocked. you couldn't tell where the sound was coming from. great imaging. month down the road tweeters all blow. %$#&%^#!!!!! so off to crutchfield to buy Infinity Kappa 6 1/2 components. on sale 199 a pair. set up the same way and they have been great for the past year. no problems at all. not quite as crisp a high as the quarts but hey they blew. the amp is set-up the same as with the quarts and these spks don't cringe. so go either way but be carefull.

Hmm...I have Infinity Reference. I'm pretty satisfied with 'em. I mean, they probably aren't the best speakers out there, but I'm not going to be in any SQ contests, so I think I'm alright.

Ben, you got ripped if you paid that much. RSB 216's are 169.95 on the internet. I got my QM218.61's for $480. These were top of the line till they came out with the new Q's. I would go for the Quart's. All hand made. Definetely get what you pay for.

some stores were selling them for 499 at the time but this was 2 years ago when i got them and i got them at another site for 199 with free shipping. so yeah by now they should be really cheap cause they r so old. i was just using it as a comparison that even though they cost 500 that doesn't make them all that special. i admit they sounded good but they blew on me and i had all my gains and settings right and it wasn't from abuse or clipping they just didn't handle the power like the infinity's do. and its not like just 1 blew first one then another then another then another. not even at the same time.

well i was looking at mbq components w/tweets for up front to replace my 2ways. Whatever the best ones they got is probably what i'm gonna get. Also been looking at infinity components. still undecided. I got a lx so i was thinkin of just putting the tweets where the stock ones are on the ex and buying the cover at dealership, i've never had tweets before so i don't know if that's the best spot or what.

not at all. just cause honda does it don't think they r special. i have an lx but if i had an ex i'd cut the wire to them things. for good imaging you need your sound to come from the same place so build a bridge over your new mid-bass (6 1/2) and aim it up a lil. or have some kick panels made. but keep the spkrs together. unless you don't care and just want highs blasting at you then go with them up top. some people like that or think its better but its not gonna give you a true sound cause the distance is shorter from you to the tweet then to the mid so it will get to you faster and louder. go listen to some cars that have the 2 diff setup's and see what you like better.

if you like how it sounds personally than go for it. but the simple fact is the 2 spkrs have to be together for it to be correct. thats why q-logic came out with there kick panels to help people out. i don't think they r out for our car yet though. find some people with dif. set-ups and listen to there's. go with what you hear better. your the one thats gonna enjoy it.

Yeah different people have different opinions about location and brands. If you plan on getting the top of the line Q's then expect to pay up around 800 for them. At that price I really don't think they are worth it. Infinity's are nice too. Have Kappa's in the rear deck and love them too.
