its called an "capacitor".

i didnt bother looking at the pics, but when hooking up a capacitor, the power wire first goes to the + post of the cap then to the amp. the grounding point on the chassis first goes to the - post of the cap then to the amp.

so the ground for the amp has to go to the cap
then from the cap to actual ground?

it looks like it asks to have 2 grounding points, one for amp and one for cap, on that installation link. but when i had a capacitor in my car, i had only one grounding point and ran it like shown on the masterpiece i drew above

Did you charge the cap first???

I know I had to charge mine first.

Looks like your connections are correct from you pics above. My cap is connected the same way (except in my car, it looks cleaner...lol), and it works fine.

Distribution blocks are not required to hook up a capacitor.

I don't think its necessary. I didn't have to do it with my cap. I have seperate ground wires for the amp, and cap, just like you do.

doesnt matter where the caps grounded as long as its grounded. Charging it really isnt a big deal either, just avoids a big spark. I would redo your grounds, make sure the ring terminal is sitting on bare metal, no paint whatsoever. If that doesnt do it remove the cap from the picture and try to use your amp. If it works, somethings wrong with the cap itself.

Make sure it's wired properly. Power wire goes from battery to cap +, then from cap + to your amp. Cap - gets grounded. Does not have to be grounded to the same location as the amp.

As grenloch said, charging just avoids a huge ****ing spark when you connect a drained cap. Every time I work on my electrical in my trunk I disconnect power and drain the cap, then when I go to put the fuse back in, BOOM huge spark that scares the **** out of you. The charging dealie just puts a load inbetween the battery and cap so that you don't get the spark.
