HELP: Removing stock door panel speaker from its Frame.
I need to use the stock door panel frame to install my Kicker KS60. Do the speaker and the fram come off or do i have to cut it out? If i have to cut, is there a site where i can just buy the frame?
thanks
thanks
ok, the speakers in the doors are held in with clips. i had trouble with this the first time i got mine out. Take a screw driver and stick it in the little slot on the top of the speaker and push down (this pushes down on the silver clip holding in the top) and then pull the top of the speaker out and down. keep pushing with the screw driver in different spots at different angles until it comes, u have to get it just right. Im sure u will figure it out.

no, what i think he's talking about is he wants (apparently 'needs') to use that plastic frame that the speaker is connected to again. why not get the aftermarket speaker adapter? they're usually on ebay...
oh i gotcha... yea i thought he meant the metal frame of the door, not the plastic speaker frame... uhhh all i needed for my door speakers were the HONDA adapter rings that CAME WITH the alpine speakers i bought. also i had to cut away part of the door sheet metal to make the hole a circle instead of that little weird oblong shaped hole. i didnt really have a saw so i just used a drill and drilled a bunch of huge holes in the part i had to cut away, then hit them with a sledge hammer a bunch until it sorta bended back. It sounds clear and totally unmuffled so i suppose it worked.

You were referring to baffles. They're also referred to as specers. I'd have recommended cutting them from some scrap MDF or other wood lying around. It saves you money and is very easy, plus you can cut them any depth you want.

yeah, a spacer may not work depending on how deep the driver is. you may have to cut the area as well, which is most likely the case.
