Question Any ideas?

Not really sure where to put the cap... It just hangs out all over the place and looks like butt. Any ideas?

most caps come with a mounting bracket, so hit up a search engine like Ask.com, type "capacitor mounting bracket", and you're good to go... if you don't feel like spending a few bucks, grab a backstrap (which are sold for a little over $1 on car domain) and custom make one; use your imagination...

good mounting bracket:

cheap mounting bracket:

ghetto mounting bracket (backstrap):

hope this help... good luck... rep me

Huh.. that is ugly!
Use mounting bracket and fixit to the "top".
An the wires ohh... ugly too.
Use some velcro cord wrap or plastic ones.
Good luck

if you can't figure where to put it, just take it out. the only thing its good for is helping when the lights dim. It has no effect on sound quality and actually acts as an extra drain on the battery and alternator.

Actually its a Lanzar Rack Series 1600watt amp. Prolly won't see much of these around, most people go for the "Vibe" series because of the remote for the gain. 400w RMS X 2 at 4 Ohms and 650 X 2 at 2 Ohms. Doubtful they push out those kind of numbers but thats what the specs say. But its pretty damn good for the price (180-200ish) they tag on it. And i got mines for 93 bucks off ebay shipped lol

Yea, i know... but the main reason i got it was for the lights. Irritates the hell out of me when it looks like my car is "winking" at on-comming traffic.

fiatdale will become famous soon enoughfiatdale will become famous soon enough
Do something with that quick before it bumps into the amp and sparks go flying.

And the comment on the sound quality: You probably wont notice a whole lot with just a 1 farad cap, but if you stepped up to any of the Alumapro Caps, HUGE difference, because the amplifiers are always putting out max. Stiffens the entire system up nicely, much more accurate. Again, you wont notice a whole lot with a single farad.

haha... shows how much you know.

The purpose of a cap is not to help out with lights dimming (even though it can help out with this). The purpose of a cap is to provide power to the amp in fast and short burst when needed from the amp.

Yes it can improve sound quality of the sub. I've noticed with caps that the bass hits faster with a cap, because it provides the right amount of power needed. Without a cap the bass hits a lot longer because it cannot get the right amount of power to the amp.

Your not even running a sub with a cap so how would you know what a cap does???

ahh, its a class AB. the class D models would put out the power. (d3000m) was their biggest rack mount amp. definately not a bad amplifier at all. If you are looking for a matching 4 channel for your mids and highs, I have one that is barely used, as well as d3000m which needs repair.

and as far as the whole "cap" debate, caps have their place, however, it is a temporary fix. it is still a drain on your electrical system. if you have a decent charging system, a cap would be a good addition to it. if you dont, its just more of a drain on your alternator. small amps + stock charging system, = cap. big amps + stock charging system = big 3 upgrade, better battery, and possibly an alt upgrade THEN a cap if you want.
