pioneer avh-6500dvd unit help!
my headunit is starting to act up on me. a couple days ago, it would play just fine then all of a sudden stop in the middle of a song for a few seconds and then start playing again. now it stops completely and gives me a error sign "error FF-FF" which isnt even listed in the manual. i thought maybe it was due to over heating cuz it will play fine for about 20-30 minutes then it would start doing this. but the error messege for overheating is "thermal protection" or something like that. anyone perhaps know what might be wrong?

Maybe your cd or dvd is scratched and cannot be read by the laser.
Try a different cd or dvd and see if it does the same thing.
To be honest with you, I think your deck is toast. Well is going to be toast soon.

warrenty is long gone. it will play any CD fine for about 20-30 minutes then once it starts giving me that error code it wont play anything. then if you turn it off for a few minutes it will play fine for a little bit then start acting up again.
aw ****.

It would play any cd for a bit (didn't matter if it was burned or not), and then bam error code. I could put it a fresh cd from the cd case and it would act the same way.
One day, the deck just gave up, and now its toast. I'm going to put another deck in my mom's car soon.
I think the error has to do something with the laser mechanism. I guess you can get it fixed through pioneer, but you'll probably have to pay. Your second alternative is to sell it cheap now, and not get stuck with a paper weight later when it finally gives up.
For such an expensive deck, I would at least pay someone to find out what the actually problem is.
Remember electronics breakdown, so if your going to go all out, try to get an extended warranty next time. It might save your butt in the end.
I had an Pioneer AVH-p5700DVD and I sold that thing because I was afraid it would break and I'd be stuck with nothing. I mean I don't want to be dishing out over $1000 cdn for a deck for couple of years. That's a lot of money. I don't mind spending several hundred for every couple of years though.
Anyways, GL with your deck, and get a pioneer technician to check it out.
