problems with two way pager alarm system

my brother has a 2002 civic ex automatic. remote start is activated

and had an alarm for about two years now. its the generic viper/python/(matrix brand) two way pager alarm. and his first alarm remote just stopped working around march. then we replaced it with the same remote made by Python. and now its giving us more problems. when i try to use any buttons on the keypad the remote will sit and think for 2-3 seconds, then beep multiple time with the signal pole (but without the wave lengths to show that a signal has been sent or recieved). i can put the alram next to the brain and nothing happens.
i took apart the unit to see if there was any loose connections, or if the two set of pins were not touching right.. this didnt help at all.

i don't think remotes go out this often, or do they?

do you think its the ROM that just looses its memory , and i have to reprogram it to the brain again?
-ima go ahead and try to reprogram it to the brain and post up with results soon.

is the brain wired up wrong to where it would damage the remote?

any information would be helpful, thanks

Stupid question, but did you check the batteries in the remote? Are they fresh? In my compustar remote I can unlock doors and stuff but when the batteries get low the two way function seems to not respond. Probably not enough juice in the remote to amplify the signal coming from the car.

The brain will not just lose the signal and have to be re-programed. Mine craps out (I have the older Hornet unit, like 3 years old) and it craps out when the battery just barely starts to go. The remote wouldnt tell me that it was down either. But again, if its a generic one, not a dei, you might wanna just get a namebrand.

Sounds like the alarm is recieving a signal? If so the it's a problem with the install. Do all the lights in the dash light up when attempting to remote start? Count the amount of flashes/beeps and look it up in the manual. It's a code telling you why the car didn't start.

Gluck!

what you're describing means that the remote is out of range. this is 1 of 3 things. Your remote is dead, your antenna in the car is unplugged, or your alarm is dead. It's most likely to be the first or second. Can you put your car in valet mode? if so, the alarm is obviously getting power. Otherwise, you got a bad remote. call the 1-800 number that is stamped on the back.
