Tweeter question...
You know the stock tweeters in the 2k2 Civic EX coupe? Do you know if they have built-in crossovers? If not, are they 3/4" or 1"? That way, if I have to, I can buy new tweets. Thanks!
just replace the front 6.s with decent components, there's your new tweets. the stock tweets have some sort of crossover device, but it's chincy so to speak. But Mohawkboom actually know's what he's talking about so perhaps he should answer this.

19mm (3/4") tweets.. have an inline capacitor crossing them over at 3500hz at a 6db/octave slope..will handle a whopping 20 watts RMS are half decent in build quality but they are begging you to be replaced..

Well, I have Infinity Reference 6912i's for the rear deck and Infinity Reference 502i's (5 1/4") for the front door. Mohawk, do you think I should replace the tweets, or not use 'em at all? Also, if I replace 'em, should I run them straight off of my HU? I have an Optimus 65x4 amp for the front and rear speakers. I mean, I could wire my front speakers and tweaters in series for an 8-ohm load...that will lower the output to the front speakers, which is good because that amp is kind of overkill for the 5 1/4's anyway. The only thing I'm afraid of in both situations is that the tweets would be too loud...and I really hate lowering the treble on my cd player, because it just takes away from the music. Any suggestions??

Best off not using the OEM Tweets.. You can run them off your HU if you want, but you may just drive the tweets into distortion trying to keep up with your Other speakers.

Hmm...I think I may just leave 'em unhooked. If I decide I'm not happy with the sound, then I can always buy some after-market ones and a cheap (Road Gear maybe?) amp. I can give the amp it's signal by splitting the front RCA's and running to the front channel on my 65x4 and also to the tweet amp...that way I can still fade 'em properly, and I don't have to worry about over-powering the tweets or having them be too loud. What do you think?

You can run pioneer or MTX aftermarket tweets off an aftermarket HU no problem.... Don't get a road gear amp or you'll just be feeding it distortion ..

I know, they suck! It was just an idea. lol. If I do get aftermarket tweets, I'm thinking of going with Infinity...mostly just to keep the same brand all around.

Only prob with that is that Infinity doesn't make any components that would fit. The Kappa component 5 1/4's have a depth of 2 3/8" and the References have a depth of 2 5/16". Also, I don't know about the References, but the Kappa tweeters are 1"...and I really don't want to do any cutting. The only component 5 1/4's that would fit without any spacers or anything (that I know of) would be the Kenwood KFC-P503. It has a mounting depth of 1 15/16". It also has 3/4" tweets. The only prob though, is that since I'm obsessed with good sound, I would probably change the rear speakers too. I would have to go with either a pair of Kenwood 6x9s or the same Kenwood component set I mentioned above, with adapter plates.
