rear defrost is messing with radio

rear defrost is messing with radio

any ideas as to why when i turn on my rear defroster on, i dont get any reception on my radio, and as soonas i shut my defrost off, my radio comes back in.

souns liek you have some kind of crosstalk in your wireing. do yo uhave an aftermarket HU? if so check for frayed wires or soemthing.

yeah, somethings up between the defroster and the antenna. the antenna is built into the back window.

Your antenna and your rear defroster are both built into your back window. Look at the lines on the window for any scratches or breaks, and at the sides where the connections are made.

A good glass repair shop should be able to fix any breaks or scratches you find without having to replace the rear window.

or you can get your window tinted.

I don't think the window tinting would help reception at all. more likely than not, after the tinting job, some connection was put back in place, be it the connections of the side or on the window it self.

I'd first do what the other people suggest and check the connections from the back of your HU to the rear window.

ya there is a spot that doesnt defrost on my rear window, the wires look melted almost, do you think that has anything to do with it?
