Metra and Alpine fit fixes? other decks with fitment issues with the metra kit?
I recentely purchased and installed an Alpine 9855 and used the Metra kit which allows for the pocket to be retained, now the problem is that when using this kit the alpine decks dont line up to the existing mounting holes on the bracket that holds the deck/pocket, so the cage basically supports the weight of the deck and causes it to stand downwards.
Is there a fix for this? I know others will alpines have had the same problem.
I was thinking of making new holes in the bracket so i could screw it in or put something in between the pocket and the deck so it sits straight.......I was thinking foam but I have feeling it may melt.........so maybe something else.
I dont want to use another dash kit, i like this one but would like the deck to be more secure and not tiliting backwards.....
any ideas?

how could the holes not line up? I think you dont have the deck in there properly. I seriously doubt a company like alpine would have non-standard mounting holes.

Drill the stock bracket if it doesn't work. It should line up, just as MH said,. If necessary, you can remove the cage and iso mount it in there. The iso screws should line up if the mounting cage doesn't. And yes, I'd also recommend using back strapping (can be bought at lowes, home depot, etc in the plumbing section). There should be a screw on top of the deck center in the rear.

thanks for the replies, do have an example of what this backstrapping is?? and where would i attatch it to? the deck and where else?
if i was to get the holes to match up the deck would stick out too much for the metra kit, it sticks out the perfect amount for the other kits that dont flush mount the decks.......thats the problem

the back stapping looks like a piece from an erector set... most head units include a piece with them at least my clarion did...
