yup my 940mp pioneer premier deck is inferior to the alpine I paid $200 for. even with a 13 band eq, the sound just isn't the same.

The Eclipse is only good if you are running an amp for highs I think it only puts out 13 watts rms.Plus the deck itself is cheap, dont have the quality feel like the Alpine.I have the CD8445 in my truck and I like my ALPINE 9855 alot better..I also have the Premier DEH-P860MP in my Trans Am and the feel to that is cheap also.

Its easy to say Alpine rules and Kenwood are crap but in reality its a bit more complicated than that. Alpine verses Pioneer, both good both have merits, the Pioneer is smoother more laid back sound whereas the Alpine is exactly opposite, that does not make one better than other, listen to each if possible and see which one you like most i.e sounds, looks feel, spec.
If we are talking hi-end and you want the closest in music reproduction as possible then these are the manufacterers you need - Nakamitchi, Becker, Mcintosh, a couple of others too. But for instance the Alpine F1, Pioneer P9, Sony XES and a Clarion (cant remember model) etc can give all of the above a run for there money.
And Eclipse, dont mean to annoy anyone, but if Eclipse are so good how come they are not sold around the world like the above manufacterers.
I appologise in advance, dont want to get on wrong side of my American friends.

Its all personal preference. How the menus are set up, the colors, the features. Anyone of these headunits should suffice, even the sony's havent sounded to bad (higher end) since that first unit that came out that had a all black front to simulate the face unit being taken off even though it wasnt. Eclipse is good, no doubt about that, it is up their with nakamitchi, the other brands i cant say since they are so rare. Its just like picking a damn color for your car. Your gonna pick the same high end civic, the EX, but you got the color choices or magnesium black and white, magnesium gives off a good shine, but not as much as the black, the black shines a hell of a lot, but shows all the swirls and the white is just clean, but in the end, its all pretty much the same damn thing
