why dont u people stop offering this guy Alpine Type R subs and stuff that costs alot more than what he wants to spend? That amp will work well with the P2 but I dont really like that deck alot. If u can spend $200 on a deck get the one that Gearbox suggested otherwise just get a Pioneer 3700.

For your headunit, I'd look into brands such as Pioneer, Alpine, Eclipse, Nakamichi.
For your subs, you may want to take a look as Adire Audio;s Shiva, Elemental Designs subs, Resonant Engineering subs, etc. Rockford's punch line has gone down severly in quality since it's inception. Furthermore, the stage 1 and stage 2 subs are utter garbage.
For your amps, there are a lot out there that will get the job done at an affordable price. I won't even go into detail going over decent brands, I will however say that for the money, JBL offers some great entry level power in their BP series.
What does an amplifier do? It does many things. Bare basics that I'm sure you're wondering is it takes the level of a signal by and increases it by increasing the current or voltage. They can also be used to isolate or control a signal and even decrease the level as in a line output converter.
I might recommend going into the sticky at the top and reading through diskreet's thread in there. Some of the original post is inaccurate, but there is good info through out the thread that's very useful for beginners. From there, I'd browse the tutorials at JL Audio's site, especially their section on boxes and subs located here: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=141 . It goes into great detail describing the characteristics of all box types, as well as describing the benefits of each type, explaining subs, etc. Their amp tutorial has good info as well, but it is based around their product line. It's located here: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_a...php?page_id=30 From there, you might want to go to www.the12volt.com and look at their tutorials, glossery, etc. Good information there as well. Lots of this is covered in diskreet's diy though, as well as the links. Hope this helped some.

Listen to every piece of equipmentyou possibly can, then narrow it down to what you like best. From there, decide which would be best accomodating to your budget and then get what you like. No one but the person purchasing the products has to be happy with it. I could sit here and rattle off product all day long and name stuff that he might be pleased with. Fact of the matter is, they're just opinions and ideas.
One, we do not know the music he primarily listens to. Two, we don't know exactly what the budget is. 3 we don't know how he prefers to hear his music. Some folks like ghetto boom, thanks much in part to mtv and tv shows on their, among other networks. Some like crisp clean sounding music. Some like their highs bright, their mids soft, and the subs as an accent piece. It's all a matter of personal opinion, but to say to go with one certain thing whether it be a deck, sub, amp, etc is ludicrous.
I'll say this as for recommendations, other than letting the budget determine what you buy. There are a lot of brands out there that will accomplish your desires. Some have good reputations, some have bad reputations. Some are in between. And some are unheard of by the vast majority. Find the one that best suits all of your tastes, wants, needs etc the best out of them and purchase that.

Thanks for all this info man...
Now I know how I'm gonna do it... just search. All this info has been quite helpful to me. Going to read all those links (the ones from JLAudio and the posts from the boards) pronto.
About the music: I primarily listen to reggaeton, which is (for those who do not know) essentially Puerto Rican rap/hip hop/reggae mix with some other kinds of music (which nowadays includes bachata, salsa and even rock) (Wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reggaeton)... it needs its good bass because the bass is what makes the music, what makes the beat, what makes you want to dance it. Some of the most known artists in the States include Daddy Yankee, Tego Calderón, Don Omar, etc. As posted in the Wikipedia article "Reggaeton saw its first major hit in the USA with N.O.R.E.'s "Oye My Canto" (featuring Nina Sky) - not surprisingly a record by an American rapper." so there's an example.
Links to sample songs included.
Fua! by Angel y Khriz http://www.reggaetonlyrics.com/musica/mvp2-kya1.mp3
Rakata by Wisin y Yandel http://www.reggaetonlyrics.com/musica/masflow2-wyy.mp3
Mayor Que Yo by Baby Ranks, Tony Tun-Tun, Wisin y Yandel, Daddy Yankee, and Hector 'El Bambino' (this is one of my favorite songs!) http://www.reggaetonlyrics.com/musica/masflow2-mayor.mp3
Send me a PM with your email address if you want higher quality mp3s, ripped from the CDs. (these are just sample songs taken from a website). I will gladly send all those who want an mp3 or two...

(Wow, that was a lot about reggaeton, lol)
I also love to listen to trance, some rock and quite about every other style of music, but going down in play percentage.
The budget is around $200, minimum. I might raise it up to $400-ish, but the more money I need, the more time I'll need... everything is in proportion. Ah, well, whatever. I'm not NEEDING it, I just want it a lot lol, so I might want to go for a $400-ish budget.
Ah, and about the rest of the speakers, some questions... making them early on, now that we're close to them.
What's the function tweeters have and why did my car not come with them?
When do I know I have to change my speakers?

P.S. the Alpine 9847 is awesome and employees get it for $133.. so offer them 170.. and then tell them since you are buying tons of stuff to give you a discount. i've worked there forever.. i know.

Heck, even $600 is extremely difficult, so...
Thanks to all who've posted here!
I'd glad accept more and more posts... such as to continue expanding my knowledge in this. Thanks.

ok, NO SONY. PERIOD.
1. alpine deck or kenwood. awesome stuff. alpine is higher quality and usually is at premium prices- not entry level. the kenwood ones are though. i have 2 kenwoods with remotes.
2. get the stage 2 rockford. great stuff. if not try INFINITY kappas. they are like around 100 a piece with a 300 rms 1230 peak. and they are 12's. rockfords are expensive, even for "entry level"
3. get a bigger amp than that. if the sub is 200 rms at 4 ohms, make sure the amp can push 200 rms at 4 ohms with no problem. that way there is no strain on either amp nor subwoofer.
i had a 2k watt amp hooked up to 2 12s with 300 rms on each with 4 ohm load. hit hard and made your head shake. the amp was 700 rms. so 350 to each channel. perfect setup.
i suggest 2 subs for equal and deeper sound. whats your price range???

I'm not buying used I.C.E.
Not that I don't trust you guys, it's just an odd habit of mine...
BTW... are JL Audio subs good? Just looking at them, though.

examples- amp rated at 500 rms at 1ohm ( resistance) means at 2 ohms that same wattage drops to 250 rms. if you hook up a 4 ohm sub, the wattage that will run through would be 125 watts rms. that would be each channel. so if its 1 sub that has a 4 ohm load hooked up to one channel, it would be 125 rms. if you had TWO 4 ohm subs to that same amp the rms wattage delivered to each of the subs would be 65 lol. get a bigger amp than that one you posted first.

Huh? "33 watts RMS x4"
[EDIT]
Ok, Ok... so this means I can get 4 speakers to throw a maximum of 33 watts, right?
What about the amp, though?
And what is a preamp, by the way?

Ah, well, thanks, though, CivicRidaz1. I'm short on money, I'm starting to save for all this. Why are you selling, though?
Thanks MajinB for the HowStuffWorks.com link. I totally forgot I could check that website! D'oh!

I'm going to be upgrading some things soon enough. Particularly replacing headunit to an in-dash dvd player, thats why I don't mind getting rid of my cd deck.
I've had the 9853 for a while, but last week I had it replaced at best buy since I had one of the older ones with the manufacturers defect. The new one is flawless.

How much would you send the deck to 00791?
GlideTouch, nothin special, it basically works like what takes the place of a mouse on laptop computers, where u use your finger to move the cursor. It's pretty cool for a while but I don't use it because theres a remote lol. You have to use it to set up ur deck tho (clock, display, X-over, equalizer, etc). But the quality of sound this deck puts out was convincing enough for the price to buy it in the first place. and the blue display is cleaan

Here are a fw sites you can browse for product.
www.cardomain.com/shop
www.woofersetc.com
www.thezeb.com
www.ikesound.com
www.onlinecarstereo.com
Just to name a few. The larger places, such as crutchfield, have terrible prices. Decent customer service, but for the price you're paying, they'd damned well better have great customer service.
You can feel free to pm me should you want/need further things from me, as I'm kind of busy at the moment, so I don't have time to write afull reply.
