gauge wiring???
Hey guys.... i have always been so picky on what gauge wiring I should get for my jl e1200 amp. Its a really small amp........ but says it accepts up to 4 gauge wire? Now Ive been working with audio for a while now but why would the intstruc. to this amp say it would require up to 4 gauge? Will my 8 gauge be just fine? The amp is only pumping out 150 rms... so no need at al for 4 gauge..
but can anyone tell me why it would accept up to 4? Ive always wondered this about the amp.. thanks. Im so picky when it comes to this. Not a lot of current is coming and going through so.......

U could go down to 10ga if u wanted to cuz its only 150 rms.
They make them bigger for idiots who like to waste their $ on excess wire that isnt necessary. But technically, the current flows easier with a larger wire cuz its less likely to be restrictive during a peak power burst. bigger = better. its the American way

For 150rms, you are more than safe using 8 gauge wire.

use a thicker wire only if you plan on adding more amps or what ever to the system... this way you wont waste even more money and time wiring your car again..
my amp recommended using 8 guage but i went with 4 so when i add another amp I'm set only cost me $20 bucks more

I c what ur saying.... I guess what I meant is that the people who have really weak amps and get like 0 ga wire which is overkill when 4 ga would normally b way more than what they needed....
Like if our buddy used 0 og for his 150w RMS amp when 10,8, or 4 would be more than enough but they just get 0 u be special....
Or u can look at it as getting the best available. I can see it both ways
