Toyota Navi???
Question guys, Is it possible to hook up one of the factory Navi systems from say a toyota 4 runner or camry in a 7th gen?? if possible what all would be involved?
go to a toyota board and ask them what all is needed to install it. then come back with the list they give you ie. what it plugs into. the antenna. the type of harness the screen has. or just try to find a 4-runner board with a complete diy and link that someone can look at and tell what is needed. otherwise i doubt it would be worth doing vs. buyin an avic n1

Im in toyota sales and i was told i could pull one out of our trades (needs too much work/wholesale piece) if i replace it with a working cd player... so i doubt buying a new avic n1 would beat the price of a wallmart deck. maybe im wrong but i just wanted to see about how much was involved, it may be more expensive with less headaches for the avic, but just checking my options with the yota
well still we would need the info on how to install it in a toyota to know if it can be installed in a honda. like pics, diagrams, and installation instructions for a toyota. then there would be a chance you could modify the harnesses to have them fit a honda. also does the toyota nav come with a factory amp for the radio/cd because this could add a lil to your plan.

Although I'm not a technician, I assume that the major problem would be trying to hook up the Toyota nav to the Civic computer, which (to my knowledge) isn't designed to hook up to any kind of nav system. Toyota/Lexus nav systems take in information from the car's computer to help estimate location when they can't triangulate uaing the radio signals.

The yota navi has a built in radio/cd so no need for the amp and Im not extremely needing the navigation itself, i may sound like a moron (im not too electronically gifted) but I was thinking that since the navi runs off a dvd maybe i could use the dvd drive for video???? that way i wouldn't have to worry about crossing the yota navi to the civic computer??? im starting to doubt whether this is worth my time anymore.....ill check on the wiring and install when i get home
normally if a car comapny can charge for 2 things they will. so most likely the nav wont support dvd video. i would suggest buying a cheap headrest monitor, an old ps2 and a power invertor all for under 220 and this is a lot easier than your plan.

crap do it anyway. if it works then AT VERY LEAST ebay it off for HUGE profit over the $150 walmart cd player!!!!
I would think that the hardest part would be the speed sensor.....other than that its a stand alone system that just needs power remote and ground but without the speed sensor the nav wont know how fast your going on the map.
