Installing interior neons
Installing interior neons
I recently installed a complete interior neon kit on my 04 civic lx, the only trouble I'm having is getting the wire through the firewall to the battery, if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
Hey new Jack. U should use that little search button on the top of the page. It will bring up previous threads about the same thing. Just type in neon install or something to that effect.

Just in case let me help. There is a rubber grommet behind the passanger side carpet towards the center console. Take a wire hanger and straighten it out. Doesn't have to be perfect but straight enough so that it won't get caught on anything. push it through the grommet far enough so that you can grab it from the engine bay, but not to the point that you don't have any in the cab. get the line that you want to run to the battery and place it on top of the hanger. Now tape the hell out of it. I recommend electrical tape cuz well... I'm mexican and that is a staple..... Once it's taped to the hanger, go to the front, grab on to the hanger and pull slowly. you may have to give it a hard tug once you get to the tape, but don't pull too hard or it's going to fall off... That's it... If you have any problems feel free to PM me...

Nope... That's for running a power wire to an amp in the trunk. What he wanted you to see was where to break through the firewall.
dude you can take from a book named the how to build a house book and learn how to make base boards come together without being forced to build a whole new house. why cant you take the part about getting the power wire through the fire wall and use those directions and disregard all the rest. i mean i would describe myself as average to less than average on common sense but c'mon guys you should pay someone else to do the work if you cant figure out how to apply knowledge.

As to most of what you just said, I honestly didn't have much time to do research myself or you're right I could have figured it out through an already exhisting post. However I just had a quick, simple question, that I didn't have time to go through other articles for so I asked and got my response here. Much appreciated stpyro8.
it took more time to type this than it does to click on diy then audio then read the post if that wasnt enough then you could ctrl+f and enter fire wall and still took less than 2 minutes.

Sort of as a follow up question on this, I got everything through the firewall, all that good stuff, afterwards i took the positive wire and hooked that up to the positive port on the battery, and the negative one just on some random skrew. For some reason it still isn't working, any ideas?
is there try disc the ground from the battery and put it on a clean part of the engine bloch and see if that works if that doesnt it could be alot of things like a bad switch bad bulb....

Make sure you use a fuse at that battery connection !!
Check and re-do the ground connection or use a wire and jump the ground to a known good ground for a quick and easy test.

try a different grounding point.
recheck your connections and crimps, make sure they are tight and solid.
if all is good, check your neons, what brand you using?
this might sound stupid but make sure your connections to the switch is correct, even i had to make a thread to help figure out which prong connected to which wire.
