HU choices

So heres the deal. For the past 10+ years I have been a die-hard Pioneer fan. I have always had them and have never had a problem w/ them. But what I want now is bass management and the option to select my crossover freq for the subs. It seems only the 9000 series has this capability ... and its rather expensive.

So now I have been tossing around the idea of Alpine. What can you guys recommend. I haven't heard good things about Alpine and the Glide touch thing. Also a few bad things about some of the 9853 and 9855 models that seem like good options.

What does everyone recommend . ...?

Thanks in advance ....

I run exclusively alpine head units...love them. See if you can find a 9835...all the features you want, cheaper than a 9855, and more reliable. It's been discontinued though, so good luck!

FYI I have a 9835 and am in love with it...best HU i've ever owned.

I love the sq of my 9853, but the glidetouch is junk! I'm pissed because the 9853 was right in my price range and it turned out to be ***. I chose unwisely for my first Alpine

The 55 also uses the unreliable/pain in the *** glide touch strip instead of buttons. There are some differences in the way the ipod interface works as well.

I have a used pioneer premier 940mp (6.5v preouts) I'll sell you for $285 shipped. It works perfect, just doesn't have button backlight and the wire harness is missing speaker wires (not a problem if you have amps). This deck has everything you can imagine, especially if you switch to network mode. Its too much for my simple setup.
