Is this a good setup?
Well I just bought my system i know nothing about audio so i just trusted the sales guy is this a good setup? I originally had two 4 channel alpine amps each hooked up to each sub, but I exchanged them for this amp for more power to each sub. any suggestions on changes? cause i still have time to exchange.

i have mine ported and they sound sweet i haven't installed the kicker amp yet they're running off a 300 watt Virtual Sound Amp... I had them in a sealed box that i bought from circuit city and they sounded shitty so i made a box exactly like the vented MTX one they sell there and they sound amazing... Also take off the rubber around the magnet... They sound better with it off and it supposed lets it cool better... Umm other than that be careful about turning them up really loud or you'll blow them... They are known to have weak voice coils (why i got a ported box)

regular altenator voltage is 14.4volt (approximatly), so when there is nothing running in your car it should be close to that, when you got your sub on or other stuff draining power, it might change the voltage going to your cap.
its a good thing you got the 2 ohm voice coils otherwise that amp would be incredibly unstable. the sound wont be as clean with a 1 ohm impedance for the amp but it will def be louder. overall good setup. and no need to port the box unless you have an underpowered amp for the subs which you dont
Well everyone has a system for different reasons. Some people just want to rock the block, some people want SQ. Some want both. When I went for 4 subs I was competing with the car for db drag.

My cap used show voltage between 14.1 and 14.4 constantly. How do I know you ask?? I started my car, turned on the system, and watched the voltage on the cap. Its been about 3 or 4 months since I got my capacitor. Mine reads constantly from 13.6-13.9 as well. So I believe its normal.
My cap only shows voltage at 13.6 or sometimes a little lower when the bass hits hard. Other than that, its usually around 13.7-13.8 constant.
nothing is wrong with them... its normal, but if it were to get down to 12 i would start to get worried. idealy you want your system to run at 14.4 to get the best performance. 13s you wont really notice a difference though. and mine runs at only 13.6 constantly. general rule for caps is, 1 farad per 400-800watts total system power
